For a Living Kiruna – Employment Mentor

One thing is certain. With us, you make a difference. We are Kiruna. We are the healthcare staff holding the hands of elderly mothers, the teacher helping little brothers read their first words, the childcare worker helping someone grow every day, and the social worker making the changes needed to transform lives. We are personal assistants providing freedom, librarians making literature accessible, and home support staff driving to villages in snowstorms – like the midnight sun, to be there.

We are hundreds of competencies, thousands of people, and generations of experience working together to secure, care for, inspire, teach, save lives, think new thoughts, move cities, support each other, and take care of people. With pride and care. From the mountains to the city. Today and tomorrow for a living Kiruna. There is something beautiful about that. Do you also want to work for life, for people, and for the future in Kiruna Municipality? Do you want to create value and make a real difference for what matters?

About the Position

Employment type: Fixed-term employment for 6 months, with possible extension or permanent.

Responsibilities

The Employment and Integration Unit works with support for individuals moving towards self-sufficiency and settlement, guidance for newly arrived immigrants, support for youth aged 16–24, and planning and follow-up of the municipality's holiday jobs. The unit consists of employment mentors, social guides, and youth case managers. The work is carried out both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues.

  • Collaboration with employers, educational providers, Social Services, the Swedish Public Employment Service, and other actors
  • Follow-up of development and results
  • Practical support in our operations: Reuse Shop, Leisure Bank, and Service Group

We are facing a major development project where new laws, guidelines, and changed needs among participants require us to further develop our methods, documentation, and processes. You will play a central role in this work.

  • Experience working with people in marginalized situations
  • Good knowledge of labor market issues

Merits:

  • Education in employment coaching (e.g., Supported Employment or TUFF leadership)
  • Knowledge in teaching Swedish
  • Interest in climate-smart working methods
  • Knowledge of Finnish, Sami, and/or Meänkieli

A B-class driver's license is required.
