About the School

Hakkasskolan in the village of Hakkas is a spacious primary school located in the countryside of Gällivare Municipality. It covers preschool class, after-school center (fritidshem), and grades 1-9. The school has approximately 70 students from Hakkas and surrounding villages, with some new residents. The school has easy access to a swimming pool and large natural areas used in all student activities. Hakkasskolan is a small school where we develop close relationships and dare to succeed and fail together. Our vision is "For a future where everything is possible!". We constantly develop our teaching and learning environments to give students the best possible conditions for learning. Hakkasskolan has been awarded an ERASMUS+ accreditation for 2021-2027. This means continuous collaborative projects with other schools across Europe, with opportunities for work-related travel for all participating educators. The goals of the ERASMUS+ work are to collaborate with other schools in Europe facing similar challenges, to strengthen students' motivation to learn multiple languages, further develop distance teaching, and provide students and teachers with the opportunity to view their home region from new perspectives.

Job Responsibilities

As a teacher at the after-school center (fritidshem) at Hakkas School, you collaborate on planning and activities with other staff at the school. Your work involves planning and teaching at the after-school center's sections, with a primary focus on sections for Preschool Class through Grade 6. You collaborate with class mentors and student assistants in the daily work at the after-school center. The role also involves collaborating with other school personnel based on your assignment.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a license to work in after-school centers and have a present and attentive approach to students' different needs, are a clear leader, and have good collaboration skills. You are independent, responsible, and quick to take initiative. We develop our work through pedagogical dialogues and collegial learning, and see it as a strength to be able to help each other to dare to be curious about new ways of working.

Personal suitability is given great weight.

Employment requires an extract from the police's criminal record register.

Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is meritorious when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

Working Hours/Duration

Full-time, temporary position until August 2026. Probationary employment may apply.
