Talldungeskolan is located in Kortedala and has just over 260 students from preschool class to grade 3. The school is situated on a hill near the nature area south of the Lärjeån valley and consists of a circular building with a schoolyard and play areas in the center, as well as a large football field below. We have a leisure-time center (fritidshem) with four departments: Vildrosen, Myran, Kotten, and Nyckelpigan. We focus heavily on language development and communication, as we know this is the most important foundation for knowledge development in all subjects. We also develop our work with visual supports and signs as Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC). In our activities, all children are met based on their unique needs, and we vary the teaching and learning environment both indoors and outdoors. This includes using the forest around the school and our outdoor classroom.

We are now looking for a Student Assistant!

Job Responsibilities

As a Student Assistant, you will primarily support students with special needs, both in and outside the classroom. Each of these students is unique with their own skills, abilities, experiences, and challenges. Your work as a Student Assistant will therefore involve meeting each student individually, helping them identify and showcase their strengths, and supporting them with areas they find challenging. Together with teachers and other staff, you will work to create a safe and inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to feel well, thrive, succeed, build relationships with others, and learn new things.

Furthermore, you will participate in recess activities. Depending on whether you work targeted towards individual students or the whole class, this may involve responsibility for recess activities planned by those in charge of recess operations, preferably in consultation with the student assistants themselves. Being a recess supervisor requires active participation from the staff – it is not merely a supervision duty – and is a fantastic opportunity to work on students' motor skills, social skills, relationships, and learning. In this position, you will work exclusively with one student at a time, and experience working with students with physical disabilities is considered an advantage.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a secondary education, preferably with a pedagogical focus. If you have a complementary pedagogical education or experience working as a Student Assistant, this is an advantage. Experience working with students with physical disabilities is also considered an advantage. We view it very positively if you have previously worked with children with NPD (Neurodevelopmental Disorders) diagnoses. For the position, knowledge and experience of low-affective interaction (low-arousal approach) is also considered an advantage. The role requires that you can express yourself fluently in Swedish, both orally and in writing, and that you can absorb and process professional literature in Swedish. Speaking multiple languages or having previously worked in a multicultural area is an advantage. You also need to have sufficient knowledge of other primary school subjects so that you can support students in their learning.
