Description
Frölundaskolan Bräcke is an adapted primary school for students in grades 1–9. Our students study according to subject curricula, subject areas, or combined curricula. The school offers teaching and support based on each student's individual prerequisites, strengths, and needs.
We work with high adult presence, clarifying pedagogy, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), accessible learning environments, and close collaboration between the school's various professions. In each class, teachers, school support pedagogues, and student assistants work together in a class team. The student's learning, communication, participation, and independence are always in focus.
Our students have different needs for support in their learning, communication, and independence. In some classes, teaching also needs to be organized together with care, self-care, assistive devices, and individual adjustments throughout the entire school day.
Job Responsibilities
We are now looking for a special needs teacher specializing in intellectual disability and with a primary school teaching qualification for grades Pre-K–3.
We are looking for a special needs teacher who wants to combine qualified teaching with pedagogical leadership in a class where the students' needs for support, communication, care, and self-care place high demands on collaboration, structure, and professional judgment.
We are looking for you who have the competence to lead teaching in complex learning environments where students may study according to different curricula and where learning, communication, care, and self-care need to interact to create an accessible and meaningful school day. You see this as a natural part of the assignment in an adapted primary school and have the ability to lead other adults in the work regarding the student.
As a special needs teacher, you are a mentor and pedagogical leader for the class. You are responsible for planning, implementation, follow-up, and development of the teaching, as well as translating the goals of the curriculum into teaching, activities, adjustments, and clear structure in daily life.
You lead the class team, which includes the school support pedagogue and student assistants. Through pedagogical planning, structure, supervision, and clear expectations, you create the conditions for the team to work towards common goals. The assignment therefore involves a clear managerial responsibility in the daily work with the students.
The assignment includes mapping students' pedagogical and didactic needs, analyzing learning situations and environments, and translating results into teaching and adjustments. You use AAC, communication passes, visual supports, situation maps, time aids, and digital learning tools to strengthen the students' communication, participation, and learning.
You need to be able to integrate teaching, structure, communication support, assistive devices, care, and self-care routines so that the student's entire school day functions. This implies close collaboration with school support pedagogues and student assistants, but also cooperation with guardians, student health services, habilitation, and other external actors when the student's needs require it.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed primary school teacher with subject competence for grades Pre-K–3, as well as a special needs teacher specializing in intellectual disability.
You are a confident pedagogical leader who can create structure, shared vision, and direction in a class team. You have the ability to lead other adults and see the collaboration between teachers, school support pedagogues, and student assistants as an important prerequisite for students' learning and development.
You have good knowledge of the mission, curricula, and regulatory documents of adapted primary schools. You have the ability to plan and implement differentiated teaching for students studying according to subjects, subject areas, or combined curricula.
You have knowledge of AAC, clarifying pedagogy, accessible learning environments, and digital learning tools. You can analyze students' needs and translate results into teaching, adjustments, and structures that work in practice.
You need to be confident working in a operation where students may have needs for care and self-care during the school day. Therefore, you need to understand how teaching, care, assistive devices, and self-care routines need to interact without the teaching mission losing direction.
It is particularly meritorious if you have experience of:
- adapted primary school
- autism and intellectual disability
- teaching for students studying according to both subjects and subject areas
- AAC, communication passes, visual supports, and clarifying pedagogy
- care, self-care, and assistive devices in a school context
- cooperation with guardians, student health services, habilitation, and other external actors
- leading and supervising other adults in a class team.
