Väskolan is located just outside central Kristianstad in a residential area. We have approximately 540 students and provide education from preschool class to grade 9. The school has 4 after-school care departments for students who need care after school hours. We work together to give students the very best prerequisites for life.

Your role with us

As a teaching assistant, you work in grades 7-9 to help and stimulate students in need of special support towards learning, development, and independence, both individually and in groups, using a low-affective approach. The work involves creating a safe environment and frameworks for the students with a focus on studies and conditions for developing cooperation and relationships at school. The work is carried out on behalf of the responsible teacher based on the current curriculum. You support students throughout the school day, both in the classroom and during breaks and in the after-school care center, in meal and hygiene situations as well as during other activities.

The work involves constant attention, analysis, and understanding of situations in and outside the classroom. In close cooperation with teachers and other teaching assistants, you strive to find individual solutions so that each student can benefit from the teaching in the best possible way. Understanding each other's professional roles is of utmost importance. Contact and cooperation with guardians is an important part of the work, as well as actively participating in the workplace's development and taking responsibility for your own personal competence development. The work can be physically demanding and mentally taxing.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who have one of the following:

• High school diploma from the Child and Youth Program with a focus on pedagogical and social work
• Passed the vocational package "Teaching Assistant" within adult education or equivalent education as a teaching assistant within folk high school
• Degree/passed from equivalent education that the employer deems sufficiently extensive within pedagogy and children's development and learning.
• Meets parts of the educational requirements and has at least three years of work experience as a teaching assistant

You need to have an understanding of the role of a teaching assistant and be sensitive to the student's needs. We also want you to have good pedagogical skills. It is meritorious if you have documented experience of working as a teaching assistant or experience from similar tasks, alternatively other work experience. Experience working with people with functional variations is an advantage. Knowledge of the curriculum is also meritorious, as is knowledge of alternative communication tools such as PECS (TAKK) or Blissymbolics (BLISS).

You need to be able to choose courses of action within the pedagogical methods and techniques that the school works with. We also want you to have the ability to inspire, motivate, and stimulate the students in their development, as well as a good ability to meet school-age children. You are a patient, balanced, and stable person with a professional attitude and can handle situations that arise in a safe and calm manner. To succeed in your role as a teaching assistant, it is important that you can take responsibility, have empathetic ability, and can cooperate. As the work can be physically demanding, it requires that you have good physical fitness.

To allow us to assess your application, you must attach degree certificates/grades for your completed education. When we want to offer you the position, it is required that you show an extract from the police record of offenses so that we can employ you, according to regulations in Chapter 2, Sections 31-33 of the Education Act.

Kristianstad Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting.

The position is a temporary substitute position for the period 2026-08-18 to 2026-12-18.
