Special Needs Teacher/Special Educator at Fristadsskolan in Eskilstuna

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of young people? We are now looking for 1-2 dedicated and competent special needs teachers/special educators who are passionate about supporting students in need of special support and contributing to their development and learning. Here you have the chance to help develop teaching together with us at Fristadsskolan.

Fristadsskolan is a lower secondary school located in the center of Eskilstuna with approximately 470 students and 60 employees. The school has been newly renovated and we have fresh, modern facilities. At our school, quality in teaching is the focus. Our skilled full-time mentors work with student social issues and contribute to our work with safety and study environment. Our structures for collegial collaboration are well anchored with scheduled subject time every week, and there is a culture at the school of doing things together and helping each other. This autumn, we will remove our local agreement and return to working 35+10.

Job Responsibilities

As a special needs teacher/special educator, you will have a central role in the work of creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all students. You will work closely with both students and teachers to conduct investigations of students' needs for special support, as well as develop adapted teaching strategies and support measures based on the students' specific needs. You provide support to students in various subjects, both in class, group, and individually, mentor colleagues as needed, and handle ongoing documentation in various student cases.

There is also a special teaching group at the school to which the special needs teachers/special educators are partly attached. With our move to newly renovated premises, we are pleased that you as a special needs teacher will have access to your own department at the school. As a special needs teacher/special educator at Fristadsskolan, you work closely with another special needs teacher/special educator, and you are jointly responsible for two of our work teams. We have a total of four special needs teachers/special educators at the school, and all are part of our student health team. In the student health team, you will also find a counselor, school nurse, school psychologist, and career counselor, which provides significant combined experience and broad competence. There is also a strong commitment to continuously driving the promoting and preventive work forward.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a teacher's degree and an ongoing or completed education as a special needs teacher or special educator. You have experience working based on the current curriculum either through previous professional experience or via your practicum (VFU). It is positive if you have worked as a special needs teacher previously and built up experience in the area. You express yourself well in Swedish both orally and in writing and feel confident using digital tools in your daily work.

Employment Terms

  • Salary: Monthly salary.
  • Employment type: Permanent position.
  • Duration: Permanent, start date: 2026-08-10 As agreed.
  • Working hours: Daytime.
