Certified Special Educator (Grades F–4) with a focus on reading and writing development

Do you want to lay the foundation for children's future learning?

At Lemshaga Academy, we are now looking for an engaged, warm, and skilled special educator for grades F–4, with a particular focus on reading and writing acquisition, language development, and early support interventions.

Here, you will become an important part of a school where relationships, curiosity, creativity, and high expectations go hand in hand. Lemshaga Academy is a school for grades F–9 located in beautiful surroundings on Ingarö, where we view the school as a safe meeting place for learning, community, and hope for the future.

We are looking for you who want to make a real difference in students' early language development and contribute to more children experiencing the power of being able to read, write, understand, and express themselves.

About Lemshaga Academy

Lemshaga Academy is a school with a strong pedagogical philosophy and a clear value base. Our vision is:

“A safe meeting place for creative learning in a changing world.”

With us, the school is more than a place for teaching. It is a community where students get to grow as individuals, develop their abilities, and feel that they are important. We work with the whole child in focus – knowledge, well-being, participation, and hope for the future.

Our pedagogical work is inspired, among other things, by Creating Cultures of Thinking, language-developing approaches, and our joint work with See the Good, where strengths, relationships, and the student's confidence in their own abilities are at the center.

We are proud of our culture: engaged staff, close collaboration, clear student focus, and a strong desire to develop together.

About the Role

As a special educator in grades F–4, you will have a key role in the school's early and preventive work. You will work closely with students, class teachers, guardians, student health services, and the school's overarching special educator.

Your task is to strengthen students' reading and writing development, contribute to increased goal achievement, and create the right support at the right time.

The role includes, among other things:

  • working with early reading and writing acquisition
  • planning, implementing, and following up on intensive reading training
  • using mapping and follow-up tools, such as LegiLexi
  • analyzing student development and translating results into accurate interventions
  • providing support to students individually, in small groups, and in close connection to classroom teaching
  • collaborating with and supporting teaching teachers
  • contributing to language-developing approaches in grades F–4
  • having a close and professional dialogue with guardians
  • contributing to the school's systematic work for increased goal achievement

You are not alone in this role. With us, you will receive support and close collaboration with the school's overarching special educator, student health team, and school management. Together, we work to create sustainable structures, clear interventions, and good progression for the students.

We are looking for you who:

We are looking for someone who is confident in their profession and passionate about children's early reading and writing development. You know how crucial the first school years are, and you have both the competence and the heart to help students move forward when learning becomes difficult.

You are a person who builds trust, creates good relationships, and meets students with warmth, clarity, and high expectations. You dare to set demands – both on yourself, on the teaching, and on the structures needed for students to succeed.

We believe you are:

  • a certified special educator, preferably with a focus on language, writing, and reading development
  • knowledgeable in reading and writing acquisition and language-developing approaches
  • experienced in working with mapping, analysis, and follow-up
  • confident in working with intensive reading training
  • relational and professional in meetings with guardians
  • social, loyal, and collaboration-oriented
  • clear, structured, and solution-focused
  • brave enough to highlight needs, set demands, and drive the work forward
  • genuinely engaged in students' goal achievement

You see collaboration as a natural part of the role and want to contribute to a culture where we take joint responsibility for students' learning and development.

Why you should choose Lemshaga:

At Lemshaga, you get to be part of something more than just a regular school. You get to work in an environment where pedagogical development, relationships, and the student's entire school journey are truly important.

With us, you get:

  • a meaningful role with a strong focus on early interventions
  • engaged colleagues who want to develop together
  • close collaboration with the overarching special educator and student health services
  • a school with a strong pedagogical philosophy and clear vision
  • the opportunity to influence working methods, structures, and support interventions
  • students who need and deserve your competence
  • a workplace where warmth, humor, responsibility, and professionalism are important parts of the culture

We are looking for you who want to make a difference – for real. You who see every student, but also understand the importance of structure, follow-up, and purposeful work. You who want to contribute to Lemshaga continuing to be a safe meeting place for creative learning, strong relationships, and good goal achievement.

Application

Welcome to submit your application to Lemshaga Academy (we only accept applications from certified special educators).

Please tell us why you specifically want to work with reading and writing development with us, and how you want to contribute to our youngest students getting the best possible start on their school journey.

We look forward to hearing from you.
