Social Secretary to the Family Care Unit

Since January 2024, Värmdö Municipality has implemented a project where, during the period 2024–2026, working hours are scheduled so that you, as a social secretary, work every seventh Friday. You are off on the other Fridays.

The unit currently consists of social secretaries divided into the groups Investigation and Intervention, Family Care, and Family Law, led by four group leaders and one unit manager. We are now looking for an engaged and experienced social secretary for the Family Care unit. In the autumn, an organizational change is planned where the Family Care unit will develop into a placement group with a consolidated responsibility for follow-up of children and young people placed outside their own homes, for example in foster homes, emergency homes, residential care facilities (HVB), secure care (SiS), and supported housing. The change has not yet been implemented but will influence the direction of the assignment over time.

Your Assignment

Your main assignment as a social secretary in the group is to follow up on the care of placed children, including aspects such as schooling, health, and the child's well-being. The follow-up takes place through home visits, individual conversations with the child, and contact with guardians and networks. In line with the planned organizational change, the assignment will gradually cover follow-up of placements in several different care forms. You are responsible for your own cases independently. Your team colleague, the foster care secretary, investigates, follows up, and supervises foster homes. The work is led by a group leader who provides close support, and external supervision is offered.

The Family Care group describes itself as a bouquet of different personalities who get along well, are flexible, and have a high tolerance for humor. There is a strong collegial cohesion, and we often take a joint walk around the beautiful nearby lake during lunch.

Värmdö Municipality is a small municipality with high accessibility to managers and leaders for decisions and support. The Family Care unit has a group leader dedicated to the unit. We have airy, fresh premises with access to private offices.

You can commute to us easily and conveniently in 30 minutes by direct bus from Slussen, which runs every 10th minute. If you choose to drive, the same distance takes about 20 minutes.

We are looking for you who have:

  • A degree in Social Work (Social Work degree).
  • At least 2 years of experience as a social secretary in child and youth authority enforcement.
  • Documented experience in following up on placements outside the home according to the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Law on Care of Young Persons (LVU).
  • A driver's license is required as travel occurs in the position.
  • Good administrative skills and the ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish.

Meritorious

  • Experience as a social secretary within family care.
  • Documented experience of working according to Signs of Safety.
  • Experience in investigating and supervising foster homes.

The Employment is a permanent position and is full-time. Start date according to agreement or as soon as possible. Interviews will take place continuously during the recruitment period. For this position, presenting a valid extract from the police criminal record is a prerequisite for employment.
