Gamla Uppsala School is a two-track school with approximately 315 students and 40 staff members. Since the autumn term of 2025, the school has been evacuated to temporary modules at the IFU Arena while waiting for the new school building, which is planned to be completed by 2028. Vattholma School and Skyttorp School are both F-6 schools (grades 1-6) that share school leadership and a student health team. Vattholma School has approximately 175 students, and Skyttorp School has approximately 90 students. Good communication links are available to both schools by train and bus. Unit for Quality and Student Health
The primary school system has organized a support structure within the Unit for Quality and Student Health, tasked with supporting and developing student health services at the schools. The unit is led by the unit manager within the primary school management group.

Description of Duties

The position involves working as a school counselor at Gamla Uppsala School, Vattholma/Skyttorp Schools, and for the Unit for Quality and Student Health.

You contribute a social and psychosocial perspective to students' learning, health, and development, focusing on creating good conditions for every student to succeed in school. The work spans several levels – from individual student contacts to overarching, preventive, and health-promoting initiatives at the organizational level.

You conduct conversations in various forms; supportive, motivational, crisis, and conflict management conversations. These conversations can take place both individually and in groups, where group interventions are sometimes used to work on issues such as core values, social interaction, or conflict management.

The role includes investigating and assessing students' social and psychosocial situations. This can be done through school social mapping and analyses where you identify risk and protective factors, both at the individual and group levels. The work also involves documenting interventions and following up on cases. As needed, you collaborate with other agencies, such as social services, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP), habilitation services, etc., to ensure students receive coordinated support.

You are part of the school's Student Health Team (SHT), where you work in a cross-professional manner together with school leadership, school nurse, special education needs coordinator, special teacher, and school psychologist. Within the team, you contribute your expertise in social work and participate in both preventive and remedial work. You are also involved in the school's safety team and attendance team, working to strengthen student attendance and create a safe school environment.

You are involved in promoting and preventive work, for example in the school's work on core values, and actively work on issues concerning safety, equal treatment, discrimination, and offensive treatment. You have overall responsibility for the school's plan against offensive treatment and discrimination, including investigating and following up on incidents.

Unit for Quality and Student Health
The position also includes assignments within the support structure led by the unit manager for the Unit for Quality and Student Health, focusing on ensuring long-term staffing. As a centrally employed school counselor, you support schools during, for example, sick leave, recruitment, or peak workloads. You work as a psychosocial resource for students, guardians, and staff, often at several schools for limited periods.

Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a degree in Social Work (Social Worker/Socionom). If you also have education in behavioral sciences, we consider it an asset. You have experience working as a school counselor or in other psychosocial work with children and young people. Experience in school social work as well as preventive and promoting interventions in a school environment is important. You also have experience with documentation according to current regulations and legislation.

It is an advantage if you have training in:

• Motivational Interviewing (MI)
• Systems Theory

You are outgoing and social in professional contexts. You create and maintain good contacts and relationships. You plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively. Uppsala Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting according to the current collective agreement.
