Clinical Microbiology in Lund is one of Sweden's largest microbiological laboratories. The department is part of Lab Medicine Skåne within the Medical Services administration. Clinical Microbiology is a central medical consulting platform for healthcare, providing analyses and expertise with high accessibility to all of Region Skåne's own operations and external healthcare providers.

Clinical Microbiology, together with Vårdhygien Skåne (Healthcare Hygiene Skåne) and Smittskydd Skåne (Infection Control Skåne), forms a university healthcare unit with research conducted in collaboration with Lund University as an integrated part of the operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a Senior Consultant Physician (Överläkare) or Specialist Physician (Specialistläkare) either within clinical microbiology or infectious diseases, with an interest in dual specialization in clinical microbiology focusing on clinical operations, development work, teaching, and research.

The work includes:

• Microbiological diagnostics and counseling.
• Medical responsibility, quality control, method development, and knowledge monitoring within your own area of responsibility.
• Development of diagnostics and operations in dialogue with various healthcare providers and stakeholders.
• Supervision of ST-physicians (specialists in training) and teaching of students.

The laboratory's registers and biobank provide good prerequisites for clinical research, and there is an opportunity to combine the position with research, provided that you can finance it yourself with your own research grants.

QUALIFICATIONS

For the position of Specialist Physician:

You are a licensed physician with the right to practice in Swedish healthcare. Additionally, you have specialist competence in clinical microbiology or infectious diseases. Proficiency in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale is a requirement. You must have completed or planned a course in clinical supervision.

For the position of Senior Consultant Physician, the following are required:

You are a licensed physician with the right to practice in Swedish healthcare and have:

• Specialist competence in clinical microbiology or infectious diseases.
• Swedish language skills at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale.
• Full-time employment for at least five years (documented effective time).
• Clinical skill and independence within clinical microbiology or infectious diseases.
• Defined medical responsibility and knowledge area.
• Completed or planned clinical supervisor education.
• Documented teaching and supervision merits.
• Doctoral degree (disputation).

At a university healthcare unit, physicians are required to have pedagogical experience and education. This can be acquired through supervising, for example, nursing and medical students, as well as physicians in training, and as co-supervisor or main supervisor for doctoral candidates. Clearly describe in your application completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience of supervision and teaching at different levels.
