Project Coordinator Ukraine ReAct

The Department of Medical Sciences is a large clinical department with approximately 250 employees and over 900 individuals affiliated via the University Hospital. The department has a broad research profile with strong research groups in a number of areas. The current position as Project Coordinator is part of the ReAct unit. The unit collaborates closely with other parts of the university, with ReAct network's other regional offices, through exchange with a range of different institutions, and with civil society both in Sweden and globally. Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will coordinate ReAct's work in Ukraine, which is part of "The Program for support to Ukraine in the sectors of health, healthcare and social policy 2025–2027". This is done in collaboration with the Public Health Agency of Sweden and other actors in Sweden. The role involves developing activities to support strategic goals in Ukraine's national action plan against antimicrobial resistance, with a focus on goals for healthcare hygiene, awareness of antibiotic resistance in the population and among healthcare personnel, as well as strengthened human resources and education. The work will be carried out through online platforms, webinars, development of informational material, meetings, country visits, and other exchanges. An important part of this work is establishing collaborations within Uppsala University and with other actors and institutions both in Sweden and in Ukraine. Travel, including to Ukraine, may be required.
The position may include the following tasks:
- Coordinate and execute activities within the framework of ReAct's project "Support to AMR mitigation in Ukraine".
- Develop, adapt, and organize the translation of existing educational modules on healthcare hygiene targeting healthcare personnel and students in programs to become healthcare professionals.
- Coordinate and develop courses for healthcare personnel or other relevant groups in the areas of antibiotic resistance and healthcare hygiene.
- Develop, adapt, and organize the translation of existing material for broader awareness-raising activities about antibiotic resistance directed at the general public and civil society.
- Establish collaborations within Uppsala University and with other actors and institutions both in Sweden and Ukraine.
- Contribute to ReAct's work with results-based monitoring and evaluation, participate in follow-up meetings, and contribute to reporting.
- Participate in ReAct's ongoing efforts to mobilize funds and diversify our donor base, develop concept papers, applications, and communication with donors.
- Participate in coordination meetings, both internally within the ReAct network and with other actors.
- Contribute to ReAct's external communication with a focus on antibiotic resistance in humanitarian crises in general and in Ukraine specifically.
- Contribute to ReAct's resource mobilization by developing concept papers, applications, and arranging meetings with donors.
- Other administrative tasks or other contributions to ReAct's work as needed.
Qualifications:
Academic degree in medicine, nursing, public health, or another field deemed relevant. Previous experience in project coordination and/or results-based monitoring and evaluation and/or fundraising. Strong pedagogical skills and previous experience in developing and delivering online education. Excellent knowledge of Ukrainian and English in both speech and writing. Previous experience working in Ukraine or with health sector support to Ukraine. Key personal competencies include strategic ability, collaboration skills, organizational and coordination skills, commitment to ReAct's vision and values, and the ability and willingness to work independently and in teams with varying tasks.
Desirable/Additional Qualifications
- Experience working with the implementation of national action plans against antimicrobial resistance, preferably at the healthcare system level or in projects focused on infection prevention and control, awareness-raising, and/or education.
- Experience from teaching at medical or nursing schools.
- Experience of international work (humanitarian aid, development cooperation, exchanges, or other comparable work).
- Knowledge of other languages, especially Swedish, is also desirable.
About the Position
The employment is fixed-term from September 1 to December 31, 2026. The position is full-time. Location: Uppsala, Sweden.
