Role and Responsibilities

The R&D Designer is responsible for developing new products outside the existing product range or adapting existing products to new applications. Examples of such applications include:

  • Connections for bunkering of liquefied natural gas (LNG) / hydrogen
  • Connections for refueling trucks with liquefied natural gas / hydrogen
  • Connections for liquefied natural gas / hydrogen to aircraft or rockets

Additional tasks include:

  • Determining and documenting product performance through simulations or physical tests
  • Performing strength calculations according to international standards, e.g., EN or ASME
  • Documenting the selection of materials, components, calculations, and test results in a suitable manner for third-party approval applications
  • Coordinating with purchasing, production, and suppliers regarding prototype development

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

Civil Engineer in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Energy, or Computational Technology.

Documented experience with heat exchangers and their optimization.

Professional experience in design according to ASME rules.

Professional experience in fluid mechanics calculations (CFD) is required.

Knowledge of thermal physics and structural mechanics.

Experience in modeling refueling systems for liquid hydrogen.

Preferred Competencies

Previous experience as a calculation engineer is advantageous.

Experience with CAE systems (CAD - Inventor, FEM - Nastran in Inventor).

Ability to plan and conduct tests for design verification according to existing standards.
