Forest Technology Group (FTG) is now looking for several Mechanical Design Engineers who want to help develop the next generation of forest cranes, trailers, and accessories. Here you will work close to both production and real-world usage, in a role where new development, problem-solving, and technical expertise are at the center.
This role suits you if you enjoy combining theoretical engineering knowledge with practical understanding and want to follow your designs all the way from concept to finished solution.
ABOUT THE ROLE
To meet increased demand and continue developing future products, FTG is now strengthening its technical team with several Mechanical Design Engineers. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will help develop FTG's future products and technical solutions. The role covers both major development projects and customized designs, where you turn ideas and needs into robust, manufacturable, and functional products.
You work closely with production, purchasing, aftermarket, and suppliers to ensure that the designs work in practice and meet the requirements of a demanding operating environment. The role combines design, technical problem-solving, and development work, with the opportunity to follow your solutions from idea and design to finished product.
You are part of FTG's technical team and have the option to base yourself in either Trollhettan or Bäckefors. Since a large part of the operations are carried out in Bäckefors, you will also be regularly present on the production floor. You report to the company's Technical Director. Your responsibilities include:
New product and component design
Further development and improvement of existing products
Customized design solutions
Modeling and design in SolidWorks
Preparation of manufacturing documentation and technical documentation
Design of welded steel and sheet metal structures
Strength calculations and technical assessments
Technical dialogue with suppliers and other partners
Participation in testing, verification, and prototyping
Close collaboration with production regarding manufacturing and assembly
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for both those who are relatively early in their career and those with extensive experience in mechanical design. Most importantly, you have a strong interest in technology and want to help develop products that are used in reality every day.
You are driven by solving technical problems, developing products, and finding smart solutions that work in practice. You have a good understanding of mechanics and strength of materials and feel confident working with designs subjected to high loads. Good proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks, is a prerequisite for the role.
As a person, you are curious, responsible, and unpretentious. You enjoy collaborating with others, are hands-on, and have the ability to switch between long-term development projects and more operational issues when the business requires it.
To succeed in the role, you need to have:
Post-secondary education in mechanical engineering or a similar field
Experience in mechanical design
Good understanding of strength of materials
Experience with welded steel or sheet metal structures
Experience with 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks
Good knowledge of Swedish and English
Experience from construction machinery, forestry machines, agricultural machinery, vehicles, or other heavy mechanical industries is an advantage. Knowledge in FEM, hydraulics, or control systems is also a plus.
