to apply for the job

Do you want to contribute to good service for the people of Örebro, and have a stimulating, challenging, and developing job? We have Sweden's most important job, come and make a difference! We are now looking for a new employment consultant for our unit Guidance and Coaching.

About the position

The business area "Support and Work" consists of two operations with a shared responsibility to support and strengthen individuals receiving financial assistance, with the goal of them achieving self-sufficiency. The "Support" operation includes the municipality's financial assistance case officers. The "Work" operation, to which we are now recruiting, acts as their extended arm and is responsible for the practical support to the individual.

The individuals we meet may have complex life situations and social challenges that affect their opportunities to enter the labor market. Therefore, the work requires both endurance and the ability to recognize and value step-by-step progress, both small and large, which together lead individuals closer to work or studies. We are looking for you who are driven by making a difference and are motivated by following individuals' development over time. At the same time, we are facing a development phase where work with labor market measures is fundamentally changing through the activity requirement reform. The reform means that the municipality's responsibility is strengthened and clarified, where participation in work-promoting activities is more closely linked to the right to subsistence support.

This means that the "Work" operation will have an even clearer role as an integrated part of the social services' mandate. The municipality's measures will now clearly become part of a structured and legally regulated process, where activities are planned, implemented, and followed up based on the individual's needs and conditions. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the "Support" operation and other actors, such as the Swedish Public Employment Service.

In this role, you contribute to turning decisions into practice and creating cohesive, meaningful measures that gradually bring individuals closer to the labor market. At our workplace, methods and structures are important, but the real difference is made in the meeting between people. We are therefore looking for you who see yourself as part of the measure, where your engagement, your attitude, and your ability to build trusting relationships are crucial. You are driven by seeing individuals make steps towards work and self-sufficiency, and by knowing that what you do every day actually makes a difference.

Examples of duties:

  • Work closely with individuals receiving financial assistance who may have complex social and labor market-related challenges, focusing on steps towards work or studies.
  • Plan, implement, and follow up individually adapted labor market measures in close collaboration with participants and financial assistance case officers.
  • Motivate, coach, and support participants in their process towards increased independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Turn decisions into practical implementation and be a clear support in the daily lives of participants.
  • Collaborate closely with the "Support" operation as well as external actors and other relevant partners.
  • Document, follow up, and evaluate measures in accordance with current legislation and the operation's routines.

About the workplace

We work with unemployed individuals aged 25 and older, primarily on behalf of the "Support" operation. The "Work" operation is responsible for the practical, work-oriented support to individuals and serves as a complement to financial assistance. The majority of the staff are based at our premises on Campus Risbergska.

The "Work" and "Support" operations are part of the Upper Secondary School and Labor Market Administration, where approximately 1,400 employees work in many different roles to provide young people and adults in Örebro with equal conditions for education and self-sufficiency. Within the administration, there is broad competence and a variety of operations, creating good opportunities for professional development in a creative and developing work environment.

Qualifications

To thrive and succeed in the role, you need to be proactive, driven, and comfortable handling several parallel processes. You work flexibly, creatively, and solution-focused, taking responsibility for moving your work forward. The work involves contact with many different individuals, which requires you to be sensitive, communicative, and able to adapt your approach based on the situation and the recipient. You are relationship-building, cooperative, and have a strong commitment to the target group. You enjoy working without hierarchy and close to both colleagues and participants.

We are looking for you who have a positive view of people, great respect for the individual's needs, and the ability to meet participants professionally, with confidence in the individual's own ability to take responsibility and make changes. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

  • University/college degree, preferably with a focus on social sciences, labor market studies, behavioral science, psychology, social psychiatry, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Experience working with individuals with physical and mental health issues.
  • Experience in guidance and motivation work.
  • Valid driver's license (Category B).

Merits:

  • MI-training (Motivational Interviewing).
  • Knowledge of sign language.
  • Knowledge of languages other than Swedish.
  • Experience with functional diversity.
  • Experience working with individuals from different cultural backgrounds related to physical and/or mental health issues.
  • Knowledge of labor market issues and the conditions on the labor market.
