The Communications Department has a broad mandate encompassing identity work, research communication, student recruitment, collaboration with society and business, and responsibility for effective communication to employees, students, and alumni. In Chalmers' change work, communication is one of the keys.

Job description

We are looking for you who want to use your experience to drive strategic communication that makes a difference in a changing organization. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work close to the core of the operations.

As a Senior Communication Strategist, your responsibilities include:

  • Being a present and proactive support to Chalmers' leadership and other key functions in strategic communication matters, with a particular focus on overall internal and change communication.
  • Driving the work with Chalmers' overarching communication plan and central communication activities linked to Vision 2041, from goal setting and planning to implementation and follow-up.
  • Initiating, leading, and following up on major communication projects and strategic development tracks that strengthen Chalmers' reputation and position.
  • Developing and coordinating methods and processes for organizational and change communication in close collaboration with other parts, so that communication becomes a force supporting cultural and strategic shifts.
  • Supervising and coordinating other communicators and specialists in projects and joint assignments (planning, prioritization, task distribution), without formal personnel responsibility.
  • Contributing to the department's environmental scanning and future analysis within the communication area and translating insights into recommendations and priorities.
  • Working on the development of the department's working methods.

Employment type

Permanent full-time position.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

  • An academic education in communication, media and communication studies, strategic communication, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Long and documented experience (more than five years) of qualified strategic communication work in complex organizations.
  • Experience leading qualified specialists in a knowledge-intensive environment.
  • Experience driving strategic projects and change work from idea to implementation.
  • Experience with reputation management and reputation-building communication.
  • Documented leadership experience, including at least one managerial role with personnel responsibility.
  • Experience with change communication.
  • Very good ability to formulate clear messages and texts in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

You are a strategic and analytical person, with the ability to see the big picture and long-term connections and translate these into clear communication strategies and activities. You are secure and stable with high personal maturity, stand firm in change, and can handle complex issues without getting stuck in details. You are relationship-building and collaboration-oriented, build networks, create trust, and drive issues across organizational boundaries. As a clear and responsive communicator, you can make complex messages understandable to different target groups and dare to give qualified advice. You are self-initiating, structured, and quality-conscious, with the ability to prioritize, keep many parallel assignments together, and deliver on time. Furthermore, you are change- and development-oriented, with an interest in improving working methods, processes, and collaboration.
