Welcome to apply for the position of Dance Teacher at Värnamo Culture School.

Our vision is that every child and student, with enthusiasm and joy, should experience meaning and success in their daily work. The needs of children and students for knowledge, skills, care, and well-being should be met, and their expectations exceeded if possible. Värnamo Culture School belongs to the Department of Children and Education and has approximately 30 employees. The school's educators meet approximately 1,400 students per week in the voluntary activities within the subject courses: dance, music, theater, visual arts/form, and photo/film. We also meet all children and young people from preschool through grade 9 with our program activities. The dance activity at the Culture School has a long tradition and is a very popular branch within the school.

Responsibilities

The dance position involves teaching children and young people aged 6–20. There may also be opportunities to teach adults. The dance styles in the position are primarily Dance Mix, Jazz/Streetdance, Modern dance, with the possibility of teaching ballet or other dance styles. Teaching takes place inside the Culture School in Värnamo as well as at some schools within the municipality during daytime and evening hours. As a dance teacher, you are independently responsible for lessons and lesson planning. You become part of the dance subject team, and you work closely together regarding student development as well as in preparation for performances and appearances. There are great opportunities to work, both independently and with other colleagues at the culture school, on exciting dance assignments and cross-disciplinary projects at various events in Värnamo.

Qualifications

Dance teacher degree with teaching certification or education/experience we consider equivalent. We are looking for you as a dance teacher who has a clear methodical approach and who can inspire students to develop. We would like you to have a breadth within dance as you meet children and young people in different lesson environments, e.g., evening courses, elementary school, and high school. We are looking for you who have a great passion for the dance subject and who find it easy to collaborate with your colleagues in the work team. You take initiative, are responsible, and open to new ideas. You meet students, guardians, and colleagues with competence and warmth.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability. You should like children and young people and be able to meet them according to individual needs as well as in groups. You should enjoy collaborating with other colleagues and be prepared to take responsibility for the operations.

Department of Children and Education is responsible for preschools, elementary schools, high schools, adult education, and the culture school in the municipality.
