The Skogome operational area is the largest prison in Sweden for men convicted of sexual offenses. As part of an ongoing renovation and new construction project, the Skogome prison will be expanded to a total of approximately 800 client places, which will mean more employees and larger, more modern premises.

Job Description

As a Service Technician with a focus on industry, you will work within our service department maintaining and operating our prison's industrial laundry facility. You will be responsible for daily operations, handling fault reports, and ensuring our laundry industry remains operational. We work based on an annual calendar, which is a living document for planning operations and maintenance. You will be an expert in your field and part of a work group together with the prison's other service technicians. This means you are responsible for maintenance and service of machines within our laundry industry and collaborate closely with production managers regarding necessary measures. The role also includes, together with the manager, ensuring that operations maintain a reasonable standard in line with the Prison and Probation Service's needs, planning and being responsible for specifications and controls, and ensuring that larger projects are carried out by suppliers or in collaboration with our landlord.

The laundry industry consists of four halls: sorting, pressing hall, storage, and assembly. The work involves operating machines such as tumble dryers, washing machines, boilers, and ironing machines. We primarily deliver laundry to remand prisons and prisons within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service in Västra Götaland, but we also have external customers such as hotels. Approximately 1,300 tons are processed annually. The laundry is a form of employment for our clients, and some client contact may occur as you work in the same premises, but it is the production managers on-site who supervise the clients in their tasks.

The position is during daytime hours Monday to Friday with flexitime; weekend work may occur approximately twice a year. You have the freedom to plan and structure your days yourself in collaboration with your colleagues.

In connection with the renovation and new construction, the laundry industry will receive a new building scheduled to go into operation in 2029, which you will help plan and commission. Together with project team members, you will work to achieve the best possible efficiency in the new building. Regular check-ins regarding operations will take place with your manager.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a background in mechanical engineering, service technology, or industry, are proactive, and are an initiative-taker who is not afraid to take charge and execute tasks efficiently. You have a high sense of service, are patient, solution-oriented, communicative, meticulous, and have the ability to see the big picture. To succeed in your role, you need to be flexible, self-reliant, and have an interest in machine industry and maintenance.

As a service technician, you play an important role in the operations, and great importance will be placed on personal suitability.

Requirements:

• Experience as a service technician, industrial technician, process technician, or other background assessed as equivalent by the employer
• Work experience in facility service or similar
• Machinery knowledge or mechanical skills
• Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
• Good computer skills
