Do you want to contribute to a safe meeting place for children and young people in the municipality? Nordmaling Municipality is now looking for an engaged youth worker (fritidsledare) for our youth center activities. We welcome your application!

The Workplace

At Culture and Leisure, we are responsible for, among other things, the swimming hall and sports facilities, music school, and youth centers. Our mission is to create good conditions for residents, cultural actors, and associations to both offer and participate in a meaningful and health-promoting leisure time.

The youth center in Nordmaling Municipality is a safe meeting place where children and young people can socialize, participate in activities, and receive support from engaged staff. The activity is based on participation, where young people can influence the content. The work is carried out in close collaboration with various actors such as schools, IFO (School Health Services), and associations to create a safe and inclusive leisure and upbringing environment. The focus is on preventing exclusion and risky behaviors, strengthening self-esteem, and offering an active, safe, and developmental leisure time.

The municipality has recently decided to run the youth center in-house. This means that leaders and staff will jointly shape and develop the activity to meet the needs of children and young people, both now and in the future.

The Role and Responsibilities

As a youth worker at the youth center, you work closely with young people and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and inspiring meeting place. You plan and carry out activities together with the young people and support their own initiatives and ideas. At our youth center and within the work with children and young people in Nordmaling Municipality, you will be an important part of developing and creating good conditions for young people's safety, participation, and influence.

The work includes, among other things:

  • Planning and carrying out activities for young people
  • Creating safe relationships and being an adult role model
  • Working relationally and proactively (outreach)
  • Collaborating with e.g., schools, associations, and other actors
  • Participating in the development of youth activities

Your Profile

We are looking for you who have a youth worker education or other relevant education or experience in the field. We also require that you have a Category B driver's license.

It is meritorious if you have experience working with children and young people as well as experience in project or group leadership.

Personal qualities/skills that are important for handling the work are that you are self-reliant with the ability to plan and carry out activities independently. You are flexible and can adapt to the needs of the activity and young people in a changing time. You have good collaboration skills and contribute to a positive work climate together with colleagues and partners. As a person, you are relationship-building, secure, and engaged in meetings with young people. You also have high cultural awareness and work inclusively with respect for different backgrounds, perspectives, and individuals.

The Employment

In the role of youth worker, you are scheduled for day, evening, and weekend shifts.

Before employment, an extract from the Swedish Criminal Record Register must be presented. The extract must be shown to the employer before the employment begins to ensure safety and security for our children and young people.
