The disability care services in Umeå Municipality aim to be a resource that empowers and strengthens people's ability to live independent lives through proximity and interaction. Porfyrvägen is an LSS (Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments) service housing focused on intellectual disabilities. Six people live here in their own apartments, varying in age and care needs. We tailor our support to the individual.

We are now looking for three support assistants for our operations!

Your Responsibilities

You will guide and support individuals with intellectual disabilities in their daily lives. You will offer individual, social, and practical support to enable and utilize the individuals' own abilities, thereby creating conditions for independence. You will work to make individuals participants in their daily lives and ensure they have a meaningful leisure time and/or occupation.

The work includes personal care, heavy lifting, and practical tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry. You will also participate in leisure activities such as cinema visits, exercise, walks, etc.

Working hours are scheduled during the day, evening, weekends, and night shifts. Joint planning occurs between our operations within the disability care services.

There are pets (cats) at the workplace, so you should not be allergic.

About You

As a person, you are secure, curious, and engaged. You have good collaboration skills and a professional attitude towards users, colleagues, and other networks around our users. It is important that you share our values, work towards set goals, and take responsibility for the common work environment. It is also important that you are proactive and enjoy working with changes, as we are undergoing significant development and change work in the operation. Personal suitability will be given great weight.

To communicate with users, relatives, and colleagues, write and review care documentation, and receive medication delegation, you must have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.

Requirements:

  • Healthcare and Social Care Programme, Child and Youth Programme, Social Work Programme, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Experience working in healthcare and social care, e.g., in LSS housing or elderly care

Merits:

  • Experience working with people with disabilities
  • Experience with Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Independent Living (ESL)
  • Experience with low-affective interaction
  • Experience using lifting aids
