The Workplace

The Culture and Leisure department is responsible for, among other things, the swimming hall and sports facilities, music school, and youth centers. Our mission is to create good conditions for residents, cultural actors, and associations to both offer and participate in a meaningful and health-promoting leisure time.

The youth center in Nordmaling Municipality is a safe meeting place where children and young people can socialize, participate in activities, and receive support from dedicated staff. The operation is based on participation, where young people can influence the content. The work is carried out in close collaboration with various actors such as schools, social services (IFO), and associations to create a safe and inclusive leisure and upbringing environment. The focus is on preventing exclusion and risky behaviors, strengthening self-esteem, and offering an active, safe, and developmental leisure time.

The municipality has recently decided to run the youth center in-house. This means that leaders and employees will jointly shape and develop the operations to meet the needs of children and young people, both now and in the future.

The Role and Responsibilities

As a coordinator, you are responsible for coordinating, collaborating on, and developing the youth center activities, as well as strengthening the work with children and young people's leisure time in the municipality.

The coordinator role includes, among other things:

• Coordinate and develop youth center activities
• Contribute to the development of the municipality's work with children and young people's leisure time
• Plan, implement, and follow up on activities for children and young people
• Support and guide employees, for example at the youth center, in their daily work
• Collaborate with internal and external actors, such as schools, social services (IFO), care services, libraries, associations, and other relevant parties
• Promote children's and young people's participation and influence in the design and content of the activities
• Contribute to safety-building and preventive measures
• Administrative tasks

Your Profile

For the position of coordinator within youth center activities and work with children and young people's leisure time, you are required to have post-secondary education in social work or pedagogy, for example as a social pedagogue, youth leader training, or other equivalent education in the field (or documented long-term experience that the employer deems equivalent). Furthermore, you must have experience working with children and young people, as well as a valid driver's license (Category B).

It is meritorious if you have experience in coordination, project management, or team leadership, administrative work, or experience collaborating with associations.

• Good teamwork skills – works well with others, builds good relationships, and collaborates closely with colleagues, schools, social services, care services, etc.

• Holistic view – has a holistic perspective on children and young people's leisure time and sees the connections between youth leisure, school, and support measures
• Structured – plans, organizes, and follows up on operations in a clear manner

The Employment

The role as coordinator includes some evening and weekend work.

A certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) must be presented prior to employment. The certificate must be submitted to the employer before the employment begins to ensure safety and security for our children and young people.
