The Disability Care Services in Umeå Municipality are looking for new employees to join our team working with short-term accommodation and short-term supervision (leisure time) for children with disabilities.

What you will get

With us, you get more than just a job – you get to be part of a meaningful journey where your efforts truly make a difference.

  • If you create a secure relationship, you will receive great trust in return.
  • If you show patience, you will be there when small steps become major breakthroughs.
  • If you offer structure, you will see how anxiety is replaced by calm and trust.
  • If you work with heart, you will find a work environment where your contribution really matters.

Your responsibilities

The operations offer a holistic solution for individuals, where both short-term accommodation and short-term supervision are carried out by the same staff group. You and your colleagues work closely with a child in a home-like environment. The child's disability means you will encounter a complex behavioral profile, which can involve challenging situations and places high demands on professional handling, patience, and relationship-building.

Your assignment involves:

  • Supporting the child in daily life and strengthening their ability to be independent.
  • Creating a secure, predictable, and stimulating environment.
  • Planning and conducting individually adapted activities such as play, crafts, games, and walks.
  • Working with structure and diversion to prevent and handle situations that could otherwise lead to outbursts.
  • Collaborating closely with parents and the child's network to ensure holistic support.
  • Performing household chores and personal care/intimate hygiene as needed.
  • Documenting, keeping journals, creating implementation plans, and managing medication.

Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, nights, on-call combinations, and weekends. Coordination takes place between our operations within the Disability Care Services.

About you

As a person, you are secure, calm, and engaged. You have good collaboration skills and a professional approach towards users, relatives, and other stakeholders. You share the organization's values and contribute to development through continuous improvements. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

To communicate with users, relatives, and colleagues, as well as to write and read care documentation, you need good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing, as well as good knowledge of English.

Requirements:

  • At least a high school diploma (or alternatively, completed adult education in care and assistance if you lack a high school diploma).
  • Experience working with children and young people with disabilities.
  • Experience with low-affective handling of challenging behavior as well as in threat and violence situations.

Merits:

  • Trained childcare worker, assistant nurse, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Experience working with children/adults with autism.
  • Experience with AAC/PECS, Positive Behavior Support (PBS), and/or clarifying pedagogy.

To ensure that candidates called for interviews are the best fit for the requirements and merits, we use selection questions. It is therefore important that you answer these questions in detail and that the competence you state is supported by entries in your CV. Incomplete or deficient answers may result in your application not proceeding further.

Before an employment offer is made, we ask you to provide an extract from the police criminal record. This is done as a final step in the recruitment process.

NOTE! Do you have protected personal data? Please contact Recruitment Support at tel 090-16 10 99 or at [email protected], and they will help you with a secure application process.

Selection and interviews take place continuously. We look forward to hearing from you!
