Workplace Description

We are looking for several student employees for the Temperature Biology research group, led by Andreas Nord, which includes a full-time research technician as well as several doctoral students and postdocs. The work is entirely based at the experimental animal facility operated by the Department of Biology.

Job Responsibilities

As a student employee, tasks may vary, but they must always have a clear connection to your studies.

The work involves supervision of experimental animals as an integrated part of currently ongoing scientific studies. The student employee is expected to work with animal care and supervision, as well as related tasks, but will also have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in scientific methodology relevant to animal biology research, including blood and tissue sampling, injections, and similar procedures. The work will largely take place during weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities in this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Animal care, including feeding and cage cleaning
  • Scientific sampling where applicable
  • Support in experimental animal activities, including assistance to scientific supervisors

Qualifications

To be eligible for employment as a student employee, you must be enrolled in full-time higher education studies in Sweden, have completed approved studies equivalent to at least 60 higher education credits, and not have started doctoral studies.

Requirements for the position are that you:

  • are currently enrolled in full-time studies in the Master's program in Biology or equivalent education deemed relevant by the employer
  • have very good knowledge of Swedish and/or English, both spoken and written
  • have knowledge/experience in animal biology
  • hold a Bachelor's degree in Biology, or alternatively a high school diploma as an animal caretaker

Merits for the position include:

  • experience working with experimental animals at an animal facility
  • personal qualities that are advantageous, such as independence, teamwork skills, and good communication skills
  • A Category B driver's license is an advantage, but not a requirement

Other Information

The employment is fixed-term from 2026-08-31 to 2027-01-17, covering the autumn term of 2026, with a workload of 20%.

You will work according to a fixed schedule to be determined in agreement with the employer.
