Project Description
The project aims to develop a method for studying how different cell types in the human body are formed from stem cells. With each cell division, a few mutations occur, resulting in specific and heritable DNA changes. By detecting these DNA changes, one can establish how different cell types have formed and are related to each other, in a similar way as the phylogenetic relationship between different species is established by comparing their DNA sequences. Studying the kinship of individual cells is a challenge as it requires highly sensitive methodology to identify single mutations at the single-cell level.
Responsibilities
Develop bioinformatic tools to identify somatic mutations in the DNA of individual human cells and establish phylogenetic relationships between cells.
Qualifications
A researcher is employed primarily for research and must hold a PhD degree or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD.
Selection Criteria
Scientific skill will be given particular weight in the appointment.
Extensive experience in developing bioinformatic tools for identifying mutations in the DNA of individual human cells, as well as phylogenetics, is required.
