Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics
SciLifeLab is a national centre for molecular biosciences focusing on research into health and the environment. The centre combines leading technical expertise with advanced knowledge in translational medicine and molecular biosciences. SciLifeLab is a national resource operated by Karolinska Institutet, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm University, and Uppsala University. Job Description
SciLifeLab and the Wallenberg National Program for Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS) is a 12-year initiative focusing on data-driven research. The aim is to train and recruit the next generation of life scientists and to create strong, globally competitive competence in computational science and computer science for Swedish life sciences. The program aims to strengthen national collaborations between universities, bridge research environments within life and data sciences, and create partnerships with industry, healthcare, and other national and international actors.
We are now seeking outstanding experts in computer science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to support excellent research projects and contribute to advanced supervision and doctoral education at the national level. As part of our national support teams, you will become a fully integrated member of SciLifeLab's bioinformatics platform (National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden: www.nbis.se (http://www.nbis.se)), a unique national infrastructure with over 120 experts offering advanced support, infrastructure, and education in bioinformatics and computer science to the Swedish life science research community, with a strong national and international collaboration network.

Qualifications
We are looking for outstanding experts in machine learning and AI with experience in areas such as advanced image analysis, data structuring and data integration, as well as large language models (LLMs) with applications in biological and biomedical research.

Additional qualifications
Relevant postdoctoral studies or equivalent industrial experience are a strong merit but not a requirement. Programming skills in Python and experience with data science tools such as NumPy, Pandas, or Matplotlib are desirable, as is experience with modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow. "Reproducible research" and "FAIR data" are central concepts for us, and we value experience in developing reproducible code through code-sharing platforms, version control, workflow languages, and container solutions. Documented ability to responsibly and in accordance with laws and regulations use machine learning/AI methods for sensitive personal data is desirable, as is experience with validation and/or interpretability of AI models.
About the Position
The employment is permanent and full-time, with a six-month probationary period. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date by agreement.
