Study Support Tutor in Tigrinya – Making a Difference Together!

Job Description

Älmhult Municipality is now looking for a Study Support Tutor in Tigrinya. The role involves visiting various schools within the municipality to support students in transferring knowledge from their mother tongue/school language to Swedish. The goal of the study support is to enable students to develop tools for their own learning and continued education. Therefore, the support is provided alternately in Swedish and the mother tongue.

Qualifications

We prefer that you have a pedagogical education and experience in study support and/or mother tongue instruction. It is an advantage if you are familiar with the Swedish school system, the Swedish school language, as well as the curriculum and other governing documents relevant to the operation. To function as a study support tutor, your Swedish must be well-developed. Attributes such as willingness to collaborate and flexibility are important in this role, as your work involves close cooperation with various professionals within the school.

Additionally, we require that you have:

  • Tigrinya as your mother tongue, as this is the language in which you will provide study support.
  • A strong commitment to students and your work.
  • Good knowledge of the pedagogical assignment.
  • Very good skills in both Swedish and Tigrinya, in speaking, reading, and writing.

Experience from teaching is meritorious.

Employment Terms

Employment Type: Fixed-term employment.

A certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) is required before employment. We recommend applying for this extract in advance. Interviews for the position are planned to be held during week 27.
