We are now looking for a qualified teacher for English and another subject on the General Course.

Job Responsibilities

At present, we mainly need reinforcement in teaching for participants on the General Course, but teaching on other courses, short courses, and commissioned training may also become relevant.

You are responsible for planning, conducting, and evaluating lessons. In addition, you will be a mentor for a class.

As a teacher at Tärna Folk High School, you are part of the organization's important social-pedagogical work. This means you must be interested in people and engage in both boarding life and other activities that may occur at a folk high school. It also means that you have several important roles in your teaching work alongside your main subjects.

About the Workplace

Tärna Folk High School was founded in 1876 and is therefore one of the country's oldest folk high schools. A folk high school is something unique. It is not just about studying theoretical subjects but also about the development of the whole person.

At Tärna Folk High School, you can study on our long courses: General Course, IT Pedagogical Training, Preparatory Correctional and Police Training, Stress Pedagogical Training, Massage Therapist Training, Health Massage Training, Preparatory Care Training, and Care Assistant/Nurse Aide Training. We offer short courses, commissioned training, and some conference activities.

Qualifications

For this position, we require that you have qualifications from the Folk High School Teacher Program, a teacher education, or another form of pedagogical education, and that you can teach English and possibly another subject.

The way of working at Tärna Folk High School means that we are also interested in your other potential competencies and areas of interest.

As a person, you are engaged and have good pedagogical and communicative skills. You are positive, social, and have an easy time making contact with other people. You like to take personal responsibility, are flexible, and can work in a team as well as independently. You are solution-focused, unpretentious, and have an easy time collaborating.

It is an advantage if you are familiar with the philosophy of the Folk High School.

Employment Terms

Holiday position.

The position is a permanent position at 100%, with a six-month probation period.

Start date: 2026-08-10 or as agreed.
