Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a new Librarian to start as soon as possible during the autumn of 2026. You will be part of a work group consisting of both library assistants and librarians. The library's operations are well rooted in the school and take place in close collaboration with teachers, principals, and other professional groups at the school.

As a librarian at Hvitfeldtska Gymnasium, you will be a key person in your mission to support students in their learning process to increase goal achievement. Part of the assignment involves driving active reading promotion work to strengthen students' linguistic abilities and awaken a lifelong love of reading. The second part involves teaching Media and Information Literacy (MIL), where students are equipped for the digital landscape with tools for source criticism, information retrieval, and AI.

You will work closely together with educators and be responsible for three of the school's programs. A large part of your time will be spent working pedagogically in the classroom, for example with introductions, book talks, and workshops before the upper secondary thesis project. It is important that you feel comfortable speaking both Swedish and English to both students and staff. You will be responsible for the library's communication, both internally and externally, via various platforms. It may also become relevant to lead one of the library's book clubs.

The library staff drives the strategic work together by writing and following up on library plans and activity reports. You will represent the library in subject conferences, pedagogical development groups, and networks within the administration, while keeping up to date with developments in the world and the school.

The library is a safe, accessible, and inspiring learning environment, while also functioning as a living social meeting place for our students. We are very proud of our school library, which has received several awards over the years for its work.

Qualifications

You are a trained librarian with a degree in Library and Information Science, combined with good IT skills that allow you to handle our digital environments without difficulty. We are looking for you who have a genuine pedagogical and literary interest, and who are driven by working with reading promotion in an stimulating upper secondary environment. It is highly meritorious if you have previous experience of working in a school library.
