About the Workplace

Angeredsgymnasiet is a secondary school offering national and introductory programs, as well as a National School for students with mobility impairments. Here, joy and enthusiasm are as natural as knowledge and development. We are convinced that students who thrive and feel a joy for learning also achieve better academic results.

Job Responsibilities

As a librarian, you play a central and driving role in the school. You work in close collaboration with teachers, principals, and other professional groups to make the library a safe, accessible, and inspiring learning environment, as well as a social meeting place for our students.

You have a key role in the students' learning and integrate the library into the teaching. You conduct library introductions for new students and provide in-depth support, as well as leading workshops before and during the upper secondary thesis project.

As a librarian at Angeredsgymnasiet, you will among other things:

  • Run and develop the school library's operations.
  • Promote reading and stimulate students' interest in reading.
  • Collaborate with teachers on instruction in information searching, source criticism, and media and information literacy (MIL).
  • Support students' knowledge development and goal achievement.
  • Be part of the school's pedagogical work and collaborate with various professions at the school.
  • Participate in a network for collegial exchange and learning together with other school librarians within the education administration.

Our ambition is for the library to be accessible, and opening hours may imply varying working hours. In your application, you are welcome to describe your ideas on how you would like to work to awaken reading engagement among students and what a pedagogical approach to MIL could look like.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a university degree in library and information science and have experience in pedagogical work with young people.

You have the ability to inspire, motivate, and spread positive energy in your work, and you see possible solutions rather than problems. You have very good communicative and social competence. You show respect and consideration for those you meet in your professional role. You operate from the principle of equal value for all. You are receptive and have the ability to adapt information to the recipients you meet and explain in different ways depending on the different needs of individuals and groups. You encourage dialogue and participation, thereby creating conditions for learning to take place.

You find it easy to collaborate and build relationships. You also have a good ability to work independently, organize, and create structure in operations. You have good literary knowledge, knowledge of reading promotion initiatives, and language-developing working methods. Your ICT skills are very good, and you find it easy to use various digital systems. You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing. You value working in a multicultural environment. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Selection and interviews will take place continuously during the application period, so please submit your application as soon as possible.

We look forward to receiving your application!

Other Information

For the interview, you need to bring a passport/national ID (and possibly a residence permit) to prove your right to work in Sweden. A background check is required by law before an employment contract can be drawn up (extract from the criminal record). Certificates and credentials proving your education are submitted during the process.

About Us

Our vision is for Gothenburg to be an internationally leading city of education and knowledge. In our work, we have a clear student focus that places knowledge and skills in a context where intrinsic motivation, co-creation, and a desire to learn are important ingredients. We work from the premise of equal value and rights for all people. Together, we create a work environment where both students and employees are involved and work towards each other's success.
