Do you want to help develop the regulations and guidelines that form the foundation of a radiation-safe society? At the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (SSM), we work with issues that are of great importance for protecting human health and the environment against the harmful effects of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.
We are looking for a coordinator who wants to contribute to the Authority's work within the legislative chain and the development of regulations. You will be organizationally placed in the National Standardization Unit, which is responsible for SSM's rule and policy development. The location of employment is Gothenburg, Katrineholm, or Solna.
About the role
As a coordinator within regulatory development, you will work with analyzing, coordinating, and developing the basis for the Authority's regulations and positions. You play a central role in the Authority's handling of consultations and contribute to ensuring that consultation responses and regulations maintain high quality.
The work involves analyzing extensive and complex materials, such as government inquiries, while collaborating broadly within the Authority to collect, anchor, and quality-assure different perspectives.
Your tasks include, among other things:
- Coordinating and quality-assuring the Authority's consultation handling
- Preparing, processing, and presenting consultation responses to the Government and other authorities
- Driving the creation and revision of regulations, general advice, and guidelines
- Analyzing the need for changes in existing regulation and new regulatory areas.
You will have many points of contact and collaborate closely with experts and managers from different parts of the Authority. The role offers great variety and opportunities for development in both coordination and regulatory development.
About you
We are looking for you who have:
- A university or college degree in a field relevant to the position
- Experience in handling and reporting on consultations, or submissions to the Government Offices or other authorities
- Experience in leading working groups, coordinating assignments, or driving projects
- Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.
It is meritorious if you have experience of, for example:
- Work in the Government Offices
- Regulatory work or other rule development
- Regulation within the field of radiation safety
- Work in knowledge-intensive organizations with high technical or scientific competence.
To succeed in the role, you need to have very good collaboration skills and be able to build trusting relationships in a business with many specialist competencies. You work in a structured and independent manner, have good analytical skills, and can handle complex information effectively. You are communicative, receptive, and can adapt your message to the target group and context. The role also requires flexibility, good judgment, and the ability to prioritize when several issues need to be handled simultaneously.

About the employment
The employment is permanent with a start date as agreed. The employment may begin with a probationary period of six months. You will be employed as an investigator. Since we strongly believe in collaboration between colleagues, we want you to work from the office for the majority of your working hours, but you also have the opportunity to work from home part of the time. Business travel occurs.
You may be included in the Authority's crisis organization and may also be placed in a war-time position at the Authority. The crisis organization performs radiation protection assessments and nuclear technical analyses and collaborates with other relevant actors to handle radiological emergency situations at heightened readiness.
An employment with us may involve placement in a security class. A security investigation with register check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted before a decision on employment. For some of our security-classed tasks, Swedish citizenship is required.
