The Department of Health Sciences operates at Campus Sundsvall and Campus Östersund. The department educates and conducts research in a range of subjects, with a focus on the human being, health, and well-being.

The department offers courses, undergraduate programs, and advanced-level education. Our undergraduate programs include Public Health Science, Sports Science, Mental Health/Disorder, Health and Rehabilitation in Working Life, and Nursing. The research is multidisciplinary and conducted within the fields of Public Health Science, Sports Science, Medical Science, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Science, as well as at the National Winter Sport Centre (NVC).

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include course coordination, teaching, supervision, and examination of students, primarily in the department's undergraduate courses. The role also involves contributing to program and subject development, as well as the development of online-based education. Furthermore, the position entails active participation in the department's development work, administration, and the subject's work for equal opportunities.

Qualifications

The person appointed as University Lecturer must be qualified according to the requirements described in Mid Sweden University's employment regulations.

Qualification for the position of University Lecturer in Sports Science is held by those who have completed a Bachelor's degree with Sports Science or Sports Medicine as the main subject, or possess equivalent competence in the subject area relevant to the position.

Other Requirements

The person appointed as University Lecturer must have demonstrated pedagogical skill.

The appointee must be able to perform administrative and pedagogical tasks that require understanding and the ability to use and understand Swedish and English in both speech and writing.

The applicant must be flexible, possess good communication and collaboration skills, and have good pedagogical insight.

Evaluation Criteria

The evaluation criteria for the appointment of a University Lecturer include:

the degree of skill required for qualification for the position. The assessment of pedagogical skill should be given equal care as the assessment of other qualification-related factors.

Experience in course coordination, various pedagogical working methods, and teaching experience in higher education courses in Sports Science is meritorious. Experience in supervising student theses is also meritorious. Particularly meritorious is teaching experience in anatomy, sports medicine, physical activity and health, sports nutrition, and similar fields. A high degree of teaching experience at the university level is meritorious.

Processing

The processing of the appointment continues in accordance with Mid Sweden University's employment regulations.

Employment and Commencement

The employment is a fixed-term appointment comprising 25% of full-time from 2026-08-14 or as agreed, but no later than 2026-12-15.
