ICT Pedagogue Wanted for Stockholm Syncentral
About the Position
Syncentralen is looking for an ICT Pedagogue with an interest in visual rehabilitation. You will join our IT team working with both adults and children. As an ICT Pedagogue at Syncentralen, you conduct assessments of needs for computer assistive devices, adapt settings for various devices (computers, tablets, and mobile phones), and train patients to use their prescribed computer assistive devices and/or the assistive features of their respective devices. An assessment includes, among other things:
- Measuring and assessing the patient's need for visual adaptations to their device and installing these settings.
- Testing and recommending suitable color and contrast settings on the device and installing these.
- Guiding and providing recommendations to patients regarding the choice of suitable devices.
Together with the patient, you create a rehabilitation plan and carry out the prescription and training of assistive devices.
Interventions are primarily offered individually but may also occur in groups. Visits take place mainly at Syncentralen's premises, but home visits are conducted when necessary.
Documentation is done in the medical record system Take Care.
The work involves collaboration with colleagues at Syncentralen, relatives, external partners such as the Assistive Technology Center, and other key stakeholders around the patient.
About You
Qualifications:
- You are educated as an IT Pedagogue or have other education or experience that the employer deems equivalent.
- You have a genuine interest in visual rehabilitation.
Meritorious Qualifications
- Experience in training on computer assistive devices for the visually impaired.
- Experience in writing manuals/guides.
- Experience in leading group work/group training.
Personal Attributes
- You thrive in independent work and adapt easily to new environments.
- You have good communication skills and a pedagogical approach, and enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams.
- You have a curious approach and are quick to absorb and apply new knowledge in practice.
We would appreciate if you have previous experience with the prescription process of assistive devices and are accustomed to documenting in medical records, but this is not a requirement. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Employment Type
Permanent full-time position, 40 hours/week

About the Operations
At Stockholm Syncentral, approximately 60 people work with rehabilitation and habilitation for individuals with visual impairments or blindness. We cover the entire Stockholm area.
We are organized into a children's unit and an adult unit and are located in modern premises centrally at Fridhemsplan. Our staff includes vision pedagogues, opticians, counselors, psychologists, physiotherapists, ICT Pedagogues, Braille teachers, medical secretaries, and more.
Stockholm Syncentral is organized within Habilitation & Health, which is part of the Stockholm County Healthcare Region (SLSO) within Region Stockholm.
We are a knowledge-based organization that conducts its own research and development and operates several specialized units with specialist knowledge on how disabilities can affect daily life, health, and development. We consist of approximately 700 employees and 30 clinics in Stockholm County.
The position is subject to the condition that it does not need to be filled for internal relocation, according to current regulations.
Regarding patient-facing work within Stockholm County Healthcare Region (SLSO):
- A register check is applied before the decision on employment according to SLSO's overarching guidelines for register checks upon employment.
- Employees who will have patient contact must undergo a pre-employment health examination, according to current directives, conducted through occupational health services before employment.
- Good knowledge of the Swedish language equivalent to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is required, in addition to Swedish professional licensure. The same requirements are guiding for non-licensed staff with patient contact.
