Järfälla Language Centre is responsible for the reception of newly arrived students, mother tongue instruction, and study guidance in Järfälla Municipality. Here, you will be part of a staff group of approximately 60 people, most of whom work as both mother tongue teachers and study guides.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a mother tongue teacher and study guide, you support students in their language and knowledge development using their mother tongue, acting as a cultural and linguistic bridge. You do this, among other things, through close collaboration with the student's mentor and teaching teacher. You deliver high-quality teaching and have an inclusive approach.

You will work with students of various ages. The position may be located at one or several school units.

The role includes:

• Planning mother tongue instruction based on the curriculum for the subject of mother tongue
• Planning study guidance based on the student's and subject's needs
• Planning your teaching in collaboration with subject teachers, mentors, and other pedagogical staff to meet the student's individual needs
• Using digital tools for both student learning and the planning and documentation of teaching
• Being responsible for assessment and grading
• Reporting attendance
• Serving as the face of Järfälla Language Centre

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who

• have the relevant language as a mother tongue or have documented good knowledge of the language
• have very good knowledge of Swedish and your mother tongue in both speech and writing
• have good knowledge of the culture and school systems in the countries the students come from
• have good knowledge of Swedish culture and the Swedish school system
• are familiar with the Swedish school curriculum and other regulatory documents
• have teacher education or equivalent pedagogical education and experience
• have experience in mother tongue instruction and study guidance
• find it easy to meet students individually and in groups and to build good relationships
• are computer literate
• are highly flexible and solution-oriented, as the assignment may change quickly based on the needs of the schools
• are accustomed to taking significant personal responsibility and working independently

As a mother tongue teacher, you will interact with a large number of staff members that you need to collaborate with, including fellow mother tongue teachers and subject teachers at the schools. The ability to collaborate with all colleagues and other staff is a prerequisite for working with us.

Permanent employment may be an option for a certified teacher.
