Occupational Therapist - Forensic Psychiatry

Forensic Psychiatry at Löwenströmska Hospital is seeking an occupational therapist for a parental leave substitute position.

The Role

As an occupational therapist, you are expected to support patients in developing or maintaining the skills required to function in a meaningful daily life. Our patients often have a psychotic diagnosis and concurrent substance abuse. Our mission is focused on improving patient function and minimizing the consequences of the illness's impact on daily life. This is achieved through assessments of the patient's functional and activity capacity, as well as the planning and execution of functional and activity training. Rehabilitation targets self-care, housing, employment/education, and leisure.

The duties also include:

  • Prescription of assistive devices, particularly cognitive aids
  • Issuing statements regarding housing and employment
  • Participation in rounds, risk assessments, and care planning
  • Participation and collaboration in patient discharge, e.g., care planning with the municipality

The occupational therapists work closely with other healthcare staff such as nursing assistants, nurses, doctors, psychologists, and social workers. Therefore, you should be interested in teamwork and thrive working both independently and in a multidisciplinary team. As an occupational therapist, you also work closely with rehabilitation assistants and nursing assistants at our activity center.

We work with patients in both inpatient and outpatient care. Due to often long treatment periods, you have the opportunity to build a good rapport with the patient and thereby work towards achieving jointly set goals.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed occupational therapist. Experience from psychiatry is meritorious. You are accustomed to assessments and evaluations and can make independent decisions. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability, good collaboration skills, and having a well-considered ethical approach to work.

What can we offer you?

The position is a parental leave substitute, starting 2026-09-01 or according to agreement. Fixed-term employment until 2027-07-01.

We offer the opportunity to work at a workplace that provides space for personal and professional development at both an individual and group level. We offer a work environment where we together ensure that patients receive the best possible care. There are several occupational therapy colleagues at the workplace, and you will receive a thorough introduction, which we value so that you can do your work as well as possible. We offer a calm and secure work environment with a focus on safety aspects.

As an employer, we care about the health and well-being of our employees and offer, among other things, flexible working hours, a fitness hour, and an annual fitness allowance of 5,000 SEK. We are a thriving workplace with good morale, which is visible, among other things, in our employee survey.
