Högskolan Väst seeks a University Lecturer in Nursing Science with a focus on Health Promotion

Within the Department of Health Sciences, education and research are primarily conducted in the fields of health, nursing, and nursing science. Nursing science studies the human being in relation to health and illness, activities to promote health, care in connection with illness, as well as issues regarding organization, leadership, and education related to care. The current position is linked to parts of nursing science that are relevant to the field of nursing.

Job Responsibilities:

As a University Lecturer at Högskolan Väst, you will work with education, research, collaboration, and administrative tasks to varying degrees. The position primarily involves supervising master's students and doctoral candidates, as well as conducting research within nursing science with a special focus on health equity. The work is tied to the Specialist Nurse Program and the Nurse Program at the Department of Health Sciences, where the development of person-centered and health-promoting perspectives in care is a central part. Some of the teaching may be conducted in English.

The employment also includes participation in the university's joint activities.

Qualification Requirements for the Position of University Lecturer:

• Documented pedagogical skill (4th Chapter, 4th Section of the Higher Education Act). Applicants who lack pedagogical merits from an academic environment must have competence equivalent to the university's qualification requirements, although this may have been acquired in a manner other than within the academic environment.
• Completed university pedagogical education of at least ten weeks or equivalent competence. If university pedagogical education is lacking, employment may still take place provided that the employee completes the education during the first two years of employment.
• Completed doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence or other professional skill that is significant with regard to the subject content of the position and the duties involved (4th Chapter, 4th Section of the Higher Education Act).

Additional Requirements for This Position:

• Good collaborative skills
• Ability to teach in English
• Work experience as a District Nurse

Meritorious Qualifications for the Position:

• Experience in teaching public health. This implies that you focus on health-promoting and disease-preventive measures where the family is seen as a resource.
• Development work or quality work within the district nursing field.

In the assessment, scientific skill will be given primary importance, collaborative skill second, and pedagogical skill third. Administrative skill, leadership skill, and other professional skill will be weighted equally and given fourth importance.

When employing a University Lecturer, the pedagogical skill should be given equal care as the examination of other qualification-based conditions. In the assessment of skill, the subject area, subject description, and job duties of the position are taken into account.

Other Information:

The position is permanent, and the start date is by agreement. A six-month probationary period may apply.

The selection process may include trial lectures, work tests, interviews, and reference checks.
