The Swedish Institute for Educational Research (Skolforskningsinstitutet) is a government agency working to ensure that education in preschools and schools is conducted on a scientific basis. We achieve this by compiling research results regarding methods and approaches in teaching and by funding practical school research. The target audience for the institute's activities is preschool teachers and teachers, as well as other professionals working in preschools, schools, and adult education.

Located at Västgötagatan 5 on Södermalm in Stockholm, we offer stimulating tasks, competent colleagues, a creative work environment in an activity-based landscape, and the possibility to work remotely for part of your working hours. The institute currently has 22 employees, more than half of whom are PhD researchers.

Description

As an Information Specialist, you will be part of our projects on systematic reviews and play a central role in ensuring the quality of the extensive literature searches conducted. You will work closely with project managers and external researchers and be responsible for planning, conducting, and documenting the searches.

Responsibilities

• Plan literature searches in collaboration with project managers and external researchers
• Conduct literature searches in international and Nordic scientific databases
• Document literature searches and describe them in writing for the institute's reports
• Manage reference libraries and flowcharts
• Participate in the literature selection process, particularly the initial screening of abstracts
• Conduct less extensive searches in other types of projects
• Drive method development within literature searching
• Explain and discuss literature search issues together with project managers and external researchers
• Monitor and evaluate the institute's scientific databases and journal subscriptions
• Contribute with administrative and analytical tasks in the projects' analysis, synthesis, and reporting work as needed.

Qualifications

You must have:

• An academic degree in Library and Information Science or other education assessed by the employer as equivalent
• Experience in conducting qualified searches in scientific literature databases
• Very good ability to express yourself clearly and simply in speech and writing.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Knowledge of working with systematic reviews
• Experience with extensive search assignments
• Experience in handling and negotiating agreements for databases and journal packages
• Experience working with research literature in the field of educational science
• Experience in project management or similar
• Experience in method development
• Experience with tools used in the research process, such as EndNote and Rayyan
• Experience with issues related to preschool and school.

Conditions

The position is a permanent full-time employment. The Swedish Institute for Educational Research applies a six-month probationary period for this position.
