We are looking for resource pedagogues for the central special education group Hugin.
Job Responsibilities
The assignment primarily consists of pedagogical work with students, individually and in groups, in close collaboration with the work team, comprising teachers and resource persons. Mentoring students is also part of the responsibilities.
You must be able to share responsibility for the students' daily lives, the development of the work group, and the organization's role as a special resource within the education administration. A willingness to participate in and contribute to joint training and regular supervision is required, as well as the desire and ability to collaborate closely with colleagues, students, guardians, home schools, and external partners.
Working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders (NPD), whose behaviors challenge the environment, places high demands on commitment, empathy, approach, collaboration, and endurance. Knowledge of disabilities is necessary, but above all, knowledge of how to meet, motivate, and communicate with the specific student is crucial. Low-affective approach (LAB), a clarifying pedagogy with visual support, and Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) form the foundation of our work. A non-hierarchical work climate is also required to continuously monitor and review work methods and attitudes to design effective support. Continuous support through supervision, both in groups and individually, is provided by the central Child and Adolescent Health Service.
The assignment includes developing the operations together with colleagues and the unit manager for Hugin.
Requirements for the position:
- Post-secondary education in pedagogy or equivalent experience as assessed by the employer.
Qualifications for the position:
- Knowledge and experience regarding neurodevelopmental disorders (NPD) and low-affective approach are also desirable.
- Experience working with different age groups in primary school.
Personal qualities:
We are looking for a resource pedagogue with the knowledge, desire, and ambition to continue developing Hugin together with the existing staff. As a person, you have the ability and willingness to work in a team, are secure and stable, have warmth and humor, and are relationship-building. You believe that children do the right thing if they can. Flexibility with the child's best interest in focus permeates your work. A B-class driver's license is required.
Great importance is attached to personal suitability!
About the workplace:
Karlshamn Municipality operates a Central Special Education Group for students in primary school with extraordinary needs for special support. The operation is divided into three parts, all located in Asarum. The goal is to offer special competence in adapted learning environments for students from the municipality's municipal primary schools.
Collaboration with the home schools where the students belong to a class is sought, and a student placement at Hugin can vary in duration and extent.
The student's principal retains legal responsibility for formal decisions regarding schooling. The purpose of Hugin's work is to create conditions for students to develop knowledge, values, and skills through individually designed adaptations. The framework for the work is the school's steering documents: The Curriculum for the Compulsory School System (LGR 22), the Swedish National Agency for Education's general recommendations, and the Education Act. The design of the teaching requires individual adaptations based on each student's needs and prerequisites.
