Welcome to Trelleborg Municipality – where we work together for a growing, successful community
In Trelleborg, we work together to build a growing, successful municipality where it is good to live. Our 61 villages and 21 urban districts are creative meeting places full of life. Here, we have ambitions, share our stories, and come as we are. This openness allows us to welcome others in the same generous and curious spirit.
Join us on this journey!
The Social Services Department is tasked with working within social services and providing support so that everyone in the municipality feels safe and has equal opportunities in life. We want everyone to be active and engaged in society. With a focus on respecting the individual's right to determine their own life, we are responsible for three key areas: care and support, assistance for people with disabilities, and help for individuals and families. Our goal is to ensure everyone receives the support and care they need.
Since everything Trelleborg Municipality does is based on our core values – openness, respect, and responsibility – it is crucial that these values are just as natural to you as they are to us in our work.
The Workplace
At the Foster Care and Family Law Unit, you will become part of a competent and dedicated team consisting of five foster care social worker positions, five positions for responsible social workers (child welfare officers), one parent-support social worker, a senior social worker, and a unit manager. The unit also includes a team working with family law and a team working with family counseling.
The Foster Care and Family Law Unit in Trelleborg is one of five units within Individual and Family Care, which also includes the Reception and Investigation Unit (0–20 years), the Advice and Support Unit, the Preventive Unit, and the Addiction and Adult Unit.
Work environment and competence development are prioritized areas. We provide a thorough introduction, including participation in the national "Professional Journey" (Yrkesresan), and training in relevant methods such as MI (Motivational Interviewing) and Signs of Safety. External and internal supervision is standard, as is continuous professional development.
The operation places importance on development issues. For a couple of years, we have had a new position, a parent-support social worker, to support the biological parents of children placed in foster care. This autumn, we will also launch a project position focused on family treatment support for foster families, both during the attachment phase and when challenges arise in placements. This position will be held by one of our current foster care social workers, creating a need to recruit a new foster care social worker.
There is an awareness at the workplace of the importance of recovery, and there are opportunities to work from home regularly. We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences and strive for a team characterized by diversity, equality, and inclusion.
The municipality offers both wellness allowances and the option to exchange vacation pay for extra days off. Communication links are good; the workplace is located approximately a 10-minute walk from the bus and Pågatåg (regional train) station.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of a foster care social worker include investigating foster homes, emergency homes, contact families, and contact persons, as well as training them for their roles. Furthermore, a key task is to supervise foster homes and emergency homes, both individually and in groups, and to work closely with responsible social workers to ensure that children placed in emergency or foster care receive the necessary care. The role also involves administering compensation matters for service providers.
Qualifications
We are looking for you with a degree in Social Work (Social Work/Socionom). You have at least three years of experience in social work with children. Since the work involves investigative, educational, and supervisory tasks, excellent Swedish language skills (both spoken and written) are required. You must have a valid B-category driver's license.
It is an advantage if you have knowledge and experience in authority practice regarding placed children, or if you are trained in Kälvesten and/or New Kälvesten. It is also an advantage if you are trained in conducting the "A Home to Grow In" course and in supervising foster homes.
To succeed in this role, you must have the ability to prioritize and interact with people in a professional and empathetic manner.
Before an employment offer is made, you must provide proof of your Social Work degree, ID (passport or national ID card), driver's license, and a certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record).
