Surgical and Urological Department
We are Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer healthcare to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. Here, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic moments, within a strong community of colleagues. We welcome your application!
Are you interested in advanced surgical care? Do you value a workplace with a strong focus on nursing care, where you can contribute to good patient care? Then we are the workplace for you on 70D!
Our Operations
Surgical Ward 70D is part of the Surgical and Urological Department and provides highly specialized care in colorectal, endocrine, and emergency surgery. Additionally, we are one of four hospitals in Sweden providing national highly specialized care with HIPEC for patients with disseminated cancer of the peritoneum, as well as care for patients with endocrine abdominal tumors.
Here, you will encounter a broad patient group. We care for both patients undergoing planned surgeries and those requiring emergency surgical treatment. Common diagnoses may include cholecystitis, pancreatitis, ileus, or bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, as well as trauma in the form of falls, traffic accidents, etc. Patients are admitted via the emergency department or as direct admissions from other hospitals. The combination of elective and emergency surgery creates a learning-rich and varied work environment where no two days are alike.
The ward is located high up in the 70-building in bright and modern facilities with spacious single rooms adapted to the patients' various care needs. We are a team consisting of nursing assistants, nurses, doctors, pharmacists, and other vital health professionals working together in teams around the surgical patient. Our care is based on the 'Fundamentals of Care' framework, where we adopt a clear person-centered approach, putting the patient at the center. Here, you get to make a difference!
To support your professional development, we offer:
- Individual and structured introduction
- Regular training days
- Weekly lectures
- Personal scheduling with the opportunity to influence your schedule
