Within the Care and Social Services Administration, full-time work is the norm. This means that all permanent employees are fundamentally employed on a full-time basis. More information about what this entails for this specific position will be provided during a potential interview. Personal assistants are exempt from the full-time norm.

As a casual worker in our special housing units, you will work at one of our facilities. Special housing units are for elderly people with extensive and long-term needs for 24-hour care. This may involve serious illness, cognitive impairment, or a sense of insecurity at home. Residents have their own apartments and receive support and help in daily life. Special housing units also offer a secure and meaningful daily life with social interaction and community.
Description of duties
As a casual worker in special housing, you work to support the elderly in their daily lives. The tasks vary depending on the operation and needs, but may include among other things:
- personal care (e.g., help with hygiene, dressing, and meals)
- social support and activation
- service tasks (e.g., serving meals, cleaning, and laundry)
- documentation according to current routines (often digital)
- medication administration under delegation from a nurse, or tasks from physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
- collaboration with colleagues, nurses, and other professions
You work day and evening shifts. Working hours are scheduled on weekdays and every other weekend. You work at different units according to the needs of the operation.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who:
- are 18 years of age or older.
- are accustomed to using digital aids/computers
- communicate independently and fluently in Swedish
You are welcome to have:
- experience working in care and social services and documentation within care.
- education in care and social services and/or a professional certificate as a nursing assistant.
- ongoing or completed upper secondary education or equivalent education that the employer considers equivalent.
As a person, you are service-oriented, calm, attentive, and accommodating in your interactions. You are empathetic and can quickly put yourself in someone else's perspective or situation. You have a genuine interest in helping others. The job suits you if you collaborate and relate to others in a sensitive and flexible manner. Last but not least, you are a communicative person who is good at listening and adapting your way of communicating.

As of July 1, 2023, "nursing assistant" (undersköterska) is a protected professional title. To use the title nursing assistant, you must provide proof from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate stating that you were employed permanently as a nursing assistant on July 1, 2023. Those who have nursing assistant education but lack proof or a certificate may receive the title "care assistant" (omvårdnadsassistent) during a transition period.

In your application, you must state your citizenship. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must also be able to prove that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit. Employment can only take place after verification of the work permit, as required by the Aliens Ordinance.
Employment with Uppsala Municipality may involve being placed on the war establishment (krigsplacering).
Salary: Hourly wage.
