About Åby School

Åby School in Lagan is located in Ljungby Municipality and accepts students from preschool class to grade 9. The school is surrounded by nature and offers a beautiful natural environment. A large sports hall and artificial turf field are directly adjacent to the school, providing excellent conditions for physical education and health instruction.

At Åby School, we want everyone to feel safe, have a positive outlook on the future, and acquire and develop knowledge for life. We have trained and competent staff, and we want to create an environment where everyone feels joy in work, motivation, and engagement. The school is adapted to different age groups, including a cafeteria for junior high students with an adjacent recreation room for socializing and activities like table tennis and board games.

Åby School has well-functioning work teams and is a school with good order and structure.

Responsibilities

As a social pedagogue, you will have a special assignment to support students where absence risks affecting their learning, goal achievement, and well-being. The work aims to identify barriers to attendance and create sustainable solutions together with the student and their network.

Your tasks will include, among other things:

  • Actively work to promote student attendance and participation in school.
  • Build trusting relationships with students and guardians.
  • Identify causes of problematic school absence and contribute to early interventions.
  • Conduct supportive conversations with students and guardians.
  • Collaborate closely with the school's student health services, mentors, teachers, and school leadership.
  • Participate in the student health service's work with preventive and promoting initiatives.
  • Coordinate contacts with external actors such as social services, child and adolescent psychiatry (BUP), and other authorities as needed.
  • Document, follow up, and evaluate interventions related to school attendance.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have:

  • A social pedagogical education or other post-secondary education that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Experience working with children and young people.
  • Knowledge of factors affecting school attendance and mental health.
  • Good collaboration skills and experience in cooperation between different professions.
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.

It is meritorious if you have experience working in schools, student health services, or attendance-promoting work.
