Description

We are looking for 1–2 engaged and confident youth leaders who can contribute to creating a meaningful and inclusive leisure time for children and young people in Biskopsgården.

The employment falls under the Welfare and Leisure Division of the Social Services Administration Hisingen, and more specifically at Leisure Unit 3.

Your workplace is Vårvinden Youth Centre, which offers open and targeted activities for children and young people from grade 4 up to the age of 20, aiming to provide a meaningful leisure time. Vårvinden is an HBTQI-certified activity, which means a clear commitment to creating a safer, more inclusive, and more conscious environment. During the autumn and spring terms, you will spend part of your working hours at the nearby schools, and during school holidays, you will carry out planned activities with the target group.

Tasks at Vårvinden Youth Centre include, among other things, planning and implementing activities, marketing, and follow-up. The meeting place is open on afternoons/evenings and weekends several days a week. At the schools, you will conduct school visits and targeted activities during or after school hours.

Examples of tasks include:

• Curious dialogue with visiting children and young people to design activities that interest them, as well as introducing new activities that can broaden their interest base.
• Mentoring children and young people who wish to develop ideas and projects further.
• Good communication with colleagues to design activities, premises, and social environments that align with the administration's strategy for meaningful leisure time.
• Create and distribute posters both physically and digitally, and conduct school visits to market the activity.
• Staffing after-school activities and the youth centre.
• Follow-up through statistics in the logbook, surveys, yard councils, and ongoing dialogue with young people (both visitors and non-visitors).
• Participate in local and central forums concerning leisure activities.
• In consultation with colleagues, initiate collaborations that benefit the activity and the target groups we serve.

The work in both schools and leisure activities is characterized by relationship-building work, both towards children and young people and their guardians, as well as towards our collaborating partners.

Qualifications

For this position, you need to have completed a youth leader education, or other relevant education combined with previous work experience from working with children and young people.

This position suits you if you are confident in yourself and have an easy time connecting with children and young people, and creating good relationships with both colleagues and collaborating partners. You have good knowledge of administrative work, mentoring, and project management. You are structured, solution-focused, and passionate about working with participation and influence.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience working in areas with a similar character to Biskopsgården.
• Experience meeting people from different cultures.
• Experience collaborating with schools, associations, and organizations that meet the target group.
• Language skills such as Turkish, Arabic, or Somali.
• Experience using the KEKS logbook.
• Category B driver's license.

The Social Services Administration Hisingen is part of the social services in the City of Gothenburg. We are one of four social services administrations. We work purposefully to create a better everyday life for the residents of Hisingen.

We offer support within individual and family care, social emergency services, help with addiction, and in integration issues. We also work with leisure activities and preventive work in areas such as public health, urban planning, local safety work, and integration issues.
