Statens institutionsstyrelse (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people and adults with substance abuse issues. We operate youth homes and homes for adults across the country. Working with us offers a challenging career where you, regardless of your role or location, contribute to life-changing changes.

SiS Youth Home Fagared receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial problems, criminality, and substance abuse. We have departments in Lindome, Öxnevalla, and Gothenburg. We are currently looking for substitutes for our departments in Lindome.

Job Description

Do you want to be part of making a vital difference for vulnerable people? Then the role of Treatment Assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. At the departments in Lindome, we implement closed youth care for boys sentenced to a penal sanction under the Act on Closed Youth Care.

The overall purpose of the work is to reintegrate the sentenced young people back into society. Daily work is based on individually adapted implementation planning. We also have a treatment department with a specially strengthened mandate where we receive young people with extensive psychiatric and neuropsychiatric issues, such as autism, intellectual disability, ADHD, PTSD, self-harm behavior, and severely aggressive behavior. Much of the work involves motivational work with each young person placed with us.

As a Treatment Assistant, you ensure that routines on the department function as they should. You play a major role in the stability and security of our young people and clients, and you handle the basics of daily life such as school attendance, cleaning, cooking, and more. You contribute to maintaining security on the institution according to our routines and work to build safe relationships that help young people break habitual behaviors. Documentation is an important part of the job.

Together with your team of dedicated colleagues, such as treatment educators and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

We work based on our core values: Respect, Care, and Clarity.

As a new employee, you will undergo mandatory basic training. The training alternates between theory and supervised introduction, preparing you for the treatment role in SiS operations.

Qualifications

Your personal suitability is key to life-changing change. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a solid positive view of humanity, great empathetic ability, and the ability to build good relationships. You should have good communication skills, be able to remain calm in pressurized situations, and have the ability to collaborate and share your knowledge with colleagues.

You must also have:

  • Completed and approved upper secondary education.
  • Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations (e.g., within psychiatry, HVB operations, or care and assistance).
  • Category B driver's license.
  • Good Swedish language skills in speech and writing.
  • At least a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or university college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.

Exceptions to the requirement of at least two years of post-secondary education may be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468).

At SiS, we care about good employee relations. This means that you take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration. Read more about employee relations and leadership at SiS (https://www.stat-inst.se/jobba-hos-oss/medarbetarskap-och-ledarskap/).
