Statens institutionsstyrelse (SiS) is a government agency responsible for providing individually adapted compulsory care for young people and adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also executes closed youth care.

SiS Youth Home Eknäs receives school-age boys aged 12–16 with psychosocial issues, as well as those involved in crime and substance abuse. The institution is located just outside Enköping in a beautiful natural area near Lake Mälaren.

Working with us at SiS will make your professional life an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you will help create life-changing change.

We are now looking for a substitute teacher who wants to work broadly in our school operations! Apply for the position if you want to be part of creating life-changing change!

Job Description

You will primarily teach Mathematics, Natural Sciences (NO), and Art, as our permanent subject teachers are studying part-time. This means that the subject coordinator teacher has the main responsibility for teaching planning, but you will naturally be involved in each subject according to your preference.

The students are between 12 and 16 years old, but the teaching is based on the students' current knowledge levels. Teaching takes place in small groups and is individualized to the greatest extent possible. In your role, you will be an important part of the collegial collaboration where collective learning is in focus to achieve our goals.

Your task is therefore to act pedagogically based on specific needs and convey the content of the curriculum to the students at Eknäs Youth Home. We work at the institution's school and receive students from the various departments. You will work and collaborate with the institution's other professions as well as all teachers in the collegium.

What We Offer

  • Small teaching groups with a focus on safety and learning
  • Close collegial collaboration and competence development
  • A workplace where engagement and community are highly valued
  • The opportunity to be part of a change process and make a difference in the boys' lives
  • Summer position (not a holiday position)
  • Beneficial perks such as a wellness allowance of 5,000 SEK

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are subject-qualified in Mathematics and Natural Sciences for primary school, but we welcome other subject combinations as well and encourage everyone to apply. You are confident in your role as a teacher and leader with a positive attitude towards the students.

You are interested in working with students who have it the hardest in society, those in need of support from safe adults with big hearts. Many students have socio-emotional and neuropsychiatric disabilities, so experience in this area is desirable. You should be flexible, comfortable working with other professional groups such as psychologists, treatment assistants/pedagogues, and social services, and have good verbal and written communication skills. Your desire to teach and your ability to build good relationships are very important prerequisites for successful work with us. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities.

Requirements are as follows:

  • Teacher certification
  • Category B driver's license

It is further meritorious if you have experience working with children with functional variations, social issues, and/or have a comparable level of engagement.

At SiS, we care about good employee relations. This means that as an employee, you take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration. Employment

The position is a 6-month full-time substitute contract, with the possibility of extension. Start date by agreement, but preferably August 3rd.

SiS actively works against all forms of discrimination and welcomes all applicants.

For work at our institutions, SiS conducts register checks before employment.

In connection with the recruitment process, the National Board of Institutional Care has taken a stance on recruitment channels and marketing. We therefore expressly decline contact with media sellers, recruitment sites, and similar.

NOTE! If you have protected personal data, you should not apply via the recruitment system. Instead, contact the person listed as the contact person in the advertisement.
