Counselor for the DBT Unit at Norrlands University Hospital
Region Västerbotten works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen each other. We take responsibility for an equitable welfare system and for ensuring that research and innovation yield results.
Within the Department of Psychiatry at Norrlands University Hospital, a business development initiative is underway to develop and strengthen our organization. The department is the largest psychiatric clinic in Northern Sweden, with more than 400 employees.
About the DBT Unit
The DBT Unit is a small outpatient unit that provides Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in various formats for individuals with self-destructive, self-harming, and severe quality-of-life-impairing behaviors. The unit serves as a complementary service to the core missions of other psychiatric clinics.
The focus of the DBT Unit is to promote the development of skills to reduce self-destructive and severely impairing problematic behaviors, while promoting safety and stability in both well-being and daily functioning.
The unit's approach and treatment offerings are based on national recommendations for handling and treating self-harm behaviors, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and other CBT-based interventions. To meet the needs of the target group based on diagnosis and cognitive profile, the unit offers several treatment formats: Standard DBT, Adapted and Enhanced DBT, and the DBT Skills System.
Job Responsibilities
We are looking for a counselor (1 position) who contributes to taking good care of others and helping people feel better.
Work at the treatment unit takes place in cross-professional team collaboration and in cooperation with the patients' primary clinics. The team consists of 5 employees, all of whom work with assessment and treatment. The work includes in-depth mapping of self-harm behaviors, individual treatments, and skills training in group format using DBT as a method. Collaboration with the patients' support networks is also part of the role.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a degree in Social Work (Social Worker) and basic psychotherapy education in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). You have professional experience from psychiatric treatment, and we expect you to have an interest in meeting and treating patients with challenging behaviors, as well as experience collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.
We value personal qualities highly and are looking for someone who likes to take initiative, is creative, responsible, works in a structured manner, and thrives in development and change processes. You have a good ethical approach, can work both independently and in a team, and have strong communication skills, both with colleagues and patients.
Great importance is attached to personal suitability.
