Naval Combat Systems is a business unit within Business Area Naval that delivers solutions for situational awareness, decision support, resource management, communication, and precision – together creating effective solutions for mission control.
The section consists of service engineers and project managers who work closely with customers and projects to ensure system commissioning and maintenance. We are located in Karlskrona and Stockholm.
Your Role
As a Service Engineer, you will play a central role in the delivery and support of our marine systems, both nationally and internationally. You will participate in the entire lifecycle – from initial commissioning to acceptance testing and final delivery of vessels, as well as upgrades and support for already delivered systems.
The role is dynamic and varied, where you work closely with system engineers, software integrators, subcontractors, and shipyards. You are responsible for installation, commissioning, acceptance testing, and troubleshooting of systems to ensure that the vessels are fully operational.
The position involves travel, where you regularly work on-site with customers, both within Sweden and internationally, which requires flexibility and a willingness to work in different environments and cultures.
Main Responsibilities
- Participate in the installation, commissioning, and verification of systems on marine platforms.
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of both hardware and software.
- Collaborate with project teams, customers, suppliers, and shipyards.
- Contribute to upgrades and modifications of existing systems.
- Support training, acceptance, and after-sales support.
We offer a varied and international role where you get to work with advanced technology in complex systems. You will become part of an experienced team and have good opportunities for competence development, both technically and personally.
Your Profile
We see that you have a technical background with a broad knowledge base and a strong interest in technology. Experience in commissioning, installation, or technical service work. Ability to work both independently and in a team, good problem-solving skills, and a structured approach to work. Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing. Flexible and thrive in a role with travel and varying work environments. Curious and willing to learn new technical areas.
Requirements
- Graduation from a technical high school or equivalent.
- Experience working with hardware and software.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repair.
- Basic knowledge in service and maintenance.
Meritorious Competence/Experience in one or more of the following areas
- Marine operations and/or the defense industry.
- Networking and network equipment.
- Linux (command line).
- Understanding of functional diagrams/circuit diagrams.
- Serial communication (e.g., RS 422).
The position involves travel both within Sweden and internationally depending on the project phase and needs.
The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the current security clearance regulations. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for specific citizenship.
Please note that we work with continuous selection and that the position may be filled before the final application date has passed.
