In the heart of one of Malmö's most vibrant areas – between Triangeln, Möllevången, Sorgenfri, and Sofielund – lies St. John's Parish (S:t Johannes församling). Here, city life pulses around our churches, and people meet through music, conversation, faith, and community.

We are a parish with a clear profile within culture, diversity, and music, where our church spaces are open, lively, and filled with both stillness and activity. We are now looking for you who want to help shape the church's presence in this dynamic environment.

Job Responsibilities

As the Associate Vicar (Biträdande församlingsherde) at St. John's Parish, you will have a key role in driving and developing the parish's life – pastorally, strategically, and operationally – together with the Parish Priest. You will be part of the parish leadership and play an important role in shaping the future direction in close collaboration with colleagues, staff, and other parishes within the Church of Sweden Malmö.

In this role, you combine leadership, pastoral presence, and development work. You lead and inspire the parish's dedicated staff with the goal of creating good conditions for a vibrant parish life. Through your leadership, you contribute to strengthening and further developing worship, education, diaconal work, and mission, while encouraging voluntary engagement and building relationships in the local community.

The role also includes clear pastoral responsibilities: leading worship services, conducting education, practicing pastoral care, and performing other priestly duties.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in the opportunities and challenges of an inner-city church – and who sees the value in working in the midst of the city's pulse, where the church meets people in various life situations.

  • Ordained as a priest according to the Church of Sweden's order
  • Experience working as an Associate Vicar (Komminister) for a few years
  • Documented leadership experience and leadership training are meritorious
  • Qualifying Parish Priest education is meritorious

Personal Attributes

  • Ability to build good relationships
  • Initiative-taking
  • Trustworthy
  • Independent action

What We Offer

  • A role where you get to be the church in the midst of reality
  • A creative environment with culture, music, and diversity as natural parts
  • Dedicated colleagues and staff
  • Opportunities to influence, develop, and think new thoughts
  • Competence development and good working conditions
  • Benefits that contribute to balance and well-being
