The Child and Education Administration works on behalf of the Preschool Board and the Primary School Board. The administration is responsible for preschool activities, school-age childcare, primary school, and adapted primary school. Our most important task is to give all children and students in Huddinge the opportunity to develop to their full potential in a safe educational environment. Here, all our employees play an important role in the implementation.

Balingsnässkolan is a two-stream F-9 school with Adapted Primary School for grades 7–9. There are approximately 600 students at the school, and the staff consists of approximately 80 employees. Balingsnässkolan is a modern and beautiful building located in a scenic row house and villa area in central Huddinge. The school has a large sports hall, practical-aesthetic rooms, and its own cooking kitchen. Students at Balingsnässkolan have access to iPads in preschool class, Chromebooks 1:1 in grades 1–9, and all classrooms are equipped with Smartboards.

We are organized in grade-based work teams, so-called "home bases," where the educators in the work team are responsible for and work together on all students in the grade.

We have two "Studios" at the school, which are support activities where students in need of extensive support can receive teaching in a smaller setting for part or all of the school day. The school's vision "A safe school where knowledge brings joy and success" guides the school in its work towards a clear common goal.

The school's well-functioning student health team consists of the school leadership, three special education teachers, a counselor, school nurse, psychologist, and study and career counselor.

About the work

We are looking for a counselor for Balingsnässkolan with a focus on lower primary school (grades F–3) as well as students in the studio activity and/or Adapted Primary School (APS). You need to be flexible, have a good ability to collaborate, and have a genuine interest in the student. You will work closely with students and individually tailored while also working to see the big picture, both from a group and organizational perspective.

As a counselor at Balingsnässkolan, you work closely with the other counselor, the rest of the student health team, and the school's teachers, but also with the students and their guardians. In addition to preventive student health work, you as a counselor also need to help and support students with various everyday problems that may arise.

You will:

• have support conversations with students, both shorter interventions and more planned series
• collaborate with teachers, special education teachers, school leadership, and guardians
• participate in and drive student health work, e.g., work with problematic school absenteeism
• work with group and class interventions regarding safety, study environment, and social development
• collaborate with social services, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP), and other external actors as needed

About you

We are looking for you who:

• Have a social work degree or similar.

We consider it meritorious if you:

• Have experience working as a school counselor.

As a counselor, it is important that you are calm, secure, and stable and contribute to a good school environment. You have a good ability to collaborate with others as the profession requires contact with school nurses, teachers, etc. Furthermore, you have a strong drive, take responsibility for your tasks, and can independently structure your processes, where you make a clear plan and prioritization. It is also of great importance that you possess good empathetic ability and that you can create and maintain relationships with both students, guardians, and colleagues.
