Description

The Urban Environment Administration has overall responsibility for the city's public spaces and collective accessibility. We work to create accessible, attractive, and vibrant urban environments and natural areas. The administration owns and manages the tram network in Gothenburg. Approximately 1,000 people work at the administration.

The Urban Environment Administration is part of the urban development administrations in the City of Gothenburg. Together, we work to create conditions for functioning infrastructure, high-quality housing and premises, an inviting public environment, and to promote sustainability from all perspectives.

Do you want to help develop Gothenburg's work on biodiversity and invasive species?

We are looking for a coordinator who wants to contribute to creating structure, collaboration, and long-term sustainability in the city's work on invasive species.

The City of Gothenburg works actively to strengthen biodiversity and develop sustainable and robust habitats. Invasive species are a growing challenge that affects nature values, ecosystems, and the management of the city's green environments. Therefore, the City Council has tasked the Urban Environment Committee with developing a municipality-wide governance system to monitor and combat invasive species, as well as to collaborate with other committees and companies within the city's network for invasive species.

We are now looking for a coordinator who wants to develop this work together with us.

Responsibilities

As a Coordinator for Invasive Species, you will work on developing, coordinating, and supporting the city's work on monitoring and combating invasive species. The role involves contributing to the creation of common working methods, structure, and consensus within the area, as well as supporting operations with knowledge, analysis, and data.

You will coordinate the work within the City of Gothenburg's network for invasive species and work together with several different administrations and companies. The work includes, among other things, contributing to inventory, analysis, and follow-up, developing working methods and governing documents, and monitoring developments in legislation, research, and national working methods.

The role involves both strategic and operational tasks and provides the opportunity to help develop how Gothenburg works with biodiversity and ecological sustainability over time.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a university degree in biology, ecology, nature conservation, environmental science, or another education that the employer considers equivalent.

It is an advantage if you have experience working with biodiversity, invasive species, or other nature conservation issues. Experience in coordination, project management, or development work is also considered an advantage, as is experience from public sector operations.

It is an advantage if you have experience with inventory, GIS, or analysis work related to nature and environmental issues.

As a person, you are:

You are structured, analytical, and have the ability to create order and clarity in complex issues. You thrive in collaboration and find it easy to build good relationships with different actors and professions.

You can translate complex knowledge into practical and useful working methods and are confident in driving development forward. The role requires that you can work independently while appreciating collaboration and joint development.

We also believe that you have a genuine interest in ecological sustainability and biodiversity and are motivated by contributing to long-term sustainable habitats in the city.

Why apply for the position with us?

You will have the opportunity to work on issues that are important for Gothenburg's future and help develop an area that will become increasingly significant. The role offers great scope to influence working methods, collaboration, and development in an area where the city's ambitions are high, and where your work will make a concrete difference to the city's nature and habitats.

We look forward to receiving your application!

Conditions

With us, you will work in an administration focused on development, collaboration, and diversity. We offer, among other things, flexible working hours (with exceptions in some departments), fitness benefits, and cycling benefits – so that you can combine an exciting job with a sustainable private life.

As an employer, we are required to ensure that you have the right to reside and work in Sweden. For physical interviews, you will therefore need to show a passport or national ID card. Selection and interviews take place continuously, so do not wait with your application!
