The Department of Clinical Sciences is one of six departments at the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg. At the department, research and education are conducted with a focus on human health and quality of life. We represent 16 different subject areas (divisions) and are divided into four sections. Through a enriching collaboration with healthcare and Sahlgrenska University Hospital, we have developed joint projects and meeting places that benefit both care and research.

The Department of Clinical Sciences is now seeking a researcher with placement at the Division of Medical Radiation Physics. The division conducts research and education within hospital physics.

The research group in nuclear medicine physics develops methods for improved image quality, including Monte Carlo simulations and AI-based methods, as well as radiation dose calculations and response models for cancer treatments with radioactive drugs. The main focus of the position is small-scale dosimetry for therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, initially with a special focus on bone marrow dosimetry.

Responsibilities

The position involves developing new methods for small-scale dosimetry and contributing to teaching within the hospital physics program. The researcher is expected to plan, conduct, and analyze experiments independently and to actively contribute scientifically to the group, as well as write publications and apply for external funding.

Qualifications

The position requires education and experience in nuclear medicine with a focus on small-scale dosimetry. The applicant must have a PhD in the subject and preferably have completed a post-doc position in the field. The applicant should have good knowledge of MATLAB programming and extensive experience with Monte Carlo simulations.

Great importance is attached to personal qualities, not least the ability to work independently and organizational aptitude. The successful applicant is expected to plan, conduct, and analyze experiments independently and actively contribute scientifically to the group. The applicant must have excellent general research skills, writing skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team. Fluent knowledge of spoken and written English is essential.

Employment

The employment is a permanent position, with a scope of full-time (100%), with placement at the Division of Medical Radiation Physics at the Department of Clinical Sciences. Probationary employment may apply. Start date: September 1.
