About Us
The Business Area of Medical Technology and Physics (MTF) supports and develops care through expertise in medical physics and medical technology.
Within MTF, the Therapeutic Radiation Physics (TSF) unit is responsible for physics and technology within the radiation therapy operations in the Region of Västra Götaland, with treatment departments in Gothenburg and Borås. We are approximately 50 employees consisting of hospital physicists, dosimetrists, and engineers.
The radiation therapy equipment consists of 13 linear accelerators and 2 afterloading devices with associated calculation and information systems. We also have equipment for X-ray therapy, CT, MRI, positioning systems, as well as modern systems for quality control and treatment planning. In collaboration with other university clinics in Sweden, proton therapy is conducted at the Skandion Clinic in Uppsala. Within the unit, we conduct research and development as well as teaching both within the hospital and at the University of Gothenburg.
About the Position
As a hospital physicist with us, you will become an important part of the radiation therapy operations and contribute to the radiophysical and technical quality of care. The work is varied and includes both patient-facing and development-oriented tasks in close collaboration with other professions in the operation.
The content of the position is shaped based on your competence in combination with the operation's needs. The job content may include, for example, patient-facing work in collaboration with clinical staff, treatment planning and quality assurance of treatments, as well as maintenance and dosimetric controls of equipment. Quality control, method development, and quality work, including risk and incident analysis, may also be included, as well as teaching, supervision, and participation in clinical research.
The main place of work is in Gothenburg, but work in Borås may occur. There is also the possibility to join our team of rotating physicists who together staff a half-time position at the Skandion Clinic.
About You
For the position, you must be a hospital physicist with Swedish licensure. Experience working within radiation therapy is meritorious, and we would like you to have specialist competence in the area. Completed doctoral education is an asset in the role.
It is positive if you have experience with:
- quality work
- process mapping

- risk analysis work
- radiation protection work
- project management
- programming in a radiation therapy context
- teaching and supervision
You will have daily contact with healthcare personnel and external partners, which requires good collaboration and communication skills. We are therefore looking for you who find it easy to collaborate and who contribute to a good work climate. You are meticulous, structured, and responsible, and have a good ability to solve problems and take initiative when needed. You express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
